Leafs 🤣🤣🤣🤣 NHL gives them four games to kick off the New Year against two bottom feeding teams, and a LA squad that is in a slump. So, what do the Leafs do ? They win all four, Martin Jones looks like Martin Brodeur all of a sudden ! Then what happens ? Exactly like I predicted in the last LFR – the minute they play quality NHL teams, they proceed to lose. Jones allowed three goals in four games to start the New Year, then gives up four in ONE GAME !! Against a quality team to boot !
I did something rare the other day. I decided to comment on a LFR where the Leafs actually won a game ! But I did that to warn cocky Leaf fans that the schedule is going to get tougher, and points are going to be hard to come by too. I said it would start in Long Island, and predictably so, it did. Leaf fans I know started getting mouthy again, doing their strutting, saying that this is a new year and a different Leaf team dedicated to defence. Sportsnet homer broadcasters all started getting orgasmic, spouting how the Leafs were a different team, as compared to the last month of 2023.
Then Long Island happened. And on Wednesday, us Leaf haters got even more welcome news : the return of the resident headcase , Samsonov. Don’t you find it odd that when he was on the team, they were playing different in front of him, and he was for want of a better term, HORRIBLE ! Leafs waived him, no one was going to do them a favour and pick him up, so he was re-assigned to a team shrink. And now he’s back, and Hildebeast is back in the AHL, without a start in the big league.
So, where do the Leafs go from here ? Schedule is going to get tougher, I predict Jones is in net Saturday, loses to Colorado, then they have no choice but to start the head-case Sunday against Detoilet. Sammy not only wins, but he gets a SHUTOUT!!! Which will once again make Leaf fans all excited, saying SAMMY’S BACK !! Except he won’t be, it’s only a mirage. Joseph ( CALL ME ) WAHHHLLLL will return, and be mediocre. When all is said and done, Leafs will be on the links again after the first round. No way they get by either Boston or WE WANT FLORIDA ( who btw, have won 9 in a row 😲 )

As an Islanders fan, I'm saying Dangle is a huge talent, you guys are lucky to have this show. Also the Leafs with a goalie will be a tough out.

Leafs need to improve on defense, big time, as a team. Blocking out players and sooner and controlling the game. So many times out of positions or fully playing defense
Your point about Knies, I've watched him since his freshman year in college and he just reminded me of Rick Nash, a power forward who's big, can drive the net, can be a pain to knock off the puck with a good shot, skill and finesse so I think it's only a matter of time before we see that in the NHL
It kinda feels pointless to watch this season. There is no chance we make it past the first round with what we have. I'm just waiting for the end of April when Shanahan, treliving and Keefe get canned. We can't afford anything without trading marner and or teveres. I don't know why they didn't trade nylander. Sure he's good but he's old. He has 1 stellar year and he gets the biggest contract in leaf history?? What terrible ownership and management. Why do we watch this team?
