In the absence of actual knowledge as to what transpired and how serious it might be, without a guilty verdict in a court of his peers, Corey Perry needs to be playing hockey again. He's a hall of fame candidate, he's accomplished so much in the game, he still shows his brilliance and work ethic every time he steps on the ice, and frankly, the Blackhawks were far more effective when he was playmaking with Bedard than now. The teams and the league need power forwards like Perry who is not afraid to get roughed up in a puck battle in the corner, and Perry's on ice skill and "never say die" attitude cannot be overlooked. For hockey's sake, and for Corey Perry the man, I hope that he can find a way back, that a team makes the effort to invest in him, and that he can finish rightly, the outstanding career we have seen from this player. Again without knowing all the details, seeing what he has done to make right the mistakes he's made, the ownership and accountability he has taken, the rest of the NHL ought be looking to see that when mistakes are made, a person's life doesn't come to an end, but through a process and through taking responsibility, a player can return to play and make efforts to regain the respect of his peers, and of the fans.
Bettman is not going to stick his head out an deny Perry his right to earn a living. No sir re Bob. Bettman is going to let the remaining 29 teams decide that. Perry is done. No team in their right mind would want Perry on their team. The NHLPA did not even file a grievance because technically Perry was available the following day that he was terminated.
The entire Blackhawks Team/ownership should just be fined & suspended until 2026 when they can actually put an NHL roster together & not this current piece of shit dumpster fire they have going on today.
This guy is going into the Hall of Fame … unless he screws it up. He's had an up and down career, but had really gained my respect in how came out a heavy down period and was a very effective player again. THEN this thing … which to this very moment is not clear what happened?
