Blackhawks seeking to have latest lawsuit dismissed…

I realize this is a Blackhawks article by Rick Westhead, but the content/context is league wide and has direct and indirect implications on the Ducks.

First and foremost, this is absolutely disgusting. The Blackhawks have indicated they are trying to do better by the players who were were assaulted, yet not willing to atone for those behaviours.

Secondly, the dismissal of Corey Perry infuriates me now more than ever. Kyle Davidson, in his press conference, gave an Oscar worthy performance stating that it was one of the hardest decisions he had to make, while holding back tears. No it was not!
1. Perry is near the end of his career and one a 1 year contract
2. Perry made half of his money already so the cost implication isn’t difficult
3. IT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO

Now the Blackhawks are trying to skirt accountability quietly while looking like they’ve turned over a new leaf with the Perry termination. It’s absolutely bananas! The Hawks received no discipline (IE removal of picks) for the Kyle Beach investigation/result. They will not with this second lawsuit. The latter having strong potential for another first overall pick. The Blackhawks had a massive season ticket sale surge once their received the first overall pick. Players will eventually join the Hawks because of Bedard (like players do in Edmonton), which generates more revenue for a team that should have been punished.

The Ducks meanwhile, did not win the lottery (may not have anyways but someone else should have), may not win this years either with the Hawks having a strong chance, is totally absurd. No offence to Carlsson, but Bedard is the ticket seller and it’s been proven. But the monetary aspect isn’t the main focus – I digress.

Why the hell is the NHL so lopsided in all of its rules and why is it always the smaller market teams that get the stiff shaft when the big market teams seem to get away Scott free?

F*ck the Blackhawks leadership, the NHL and Gary Betman

As punishment, the Blackhawks shall receive the first overall pick of the 2024 draft.

You really kind of answered your own question but big market teams will always get treated better because of “money” in that it makes the world go around. After Chicago so-called “won” the draft lottery in order to draft a generational player — the Chicago organization sold over $5 million of season tickets in less than 24 hours. If Anaheim had “won” (although I don’t believe we ever had a chance) the number of ticket sales would not have nearly been remotely that high. It has been proven over and over Gary Bettman does not care if there is a controversy in the league just as long as ticket sales and revenue continue to climb that is all that matters. By the way, Chicago does not have a “chance” to win the 1st overall pick in this year’s draft it is a 100% certainty.

This popped in my suggested threads so I’ll bite.

Why would the Hawks lose a draft pick over an incident that happened more than a decade ago, that did not involve cap circumvention and did not affect the league and other teams?
