I love John but jesus christ the Oilers are not a top team in the NHL. Yeah they're trending way up but they didn't fix their problems they got a coach bump and McDavid's confidence is back. Those are huge pluses.
However, goaltending and especially defending will regress as it always does with that team and also as always they're one injury from a 10 game losing streak. No team is a bigger glass cannon.
to think your better than the sport, and feel the draft and the systems don't apply to you is pathetic, if you don't want to play for the team your drafted to then you don't want to play in the league. Its not ok that more and more players think they are better than the league, its really sad. Soon you wont be able to trade top draft picks for players because the pick might throw a tantrum and not play for the team he is drafted to.
You guys are always trying to trade away prospects and picks .stop , stop it.lets wait till trade deadline see what teams have a trade off values with out giving up much. I am not a Jake G fan no thanks. But love your show

Torts did lie. He knew the player because why would a coach not watch the Jr tournament or part of it when the team had players playing in it? It's his way of trying to make people look small.
The NBA model of having short term athletes dictate the direction of multi billion dollar franchises, and forcing teams to trade them where they want to be regardless of the return, is not something the NHL should ever strive to replicate.
Draft or Prospect should flat out just be THANKFUL they are given a chance to play in the NHL…they can voice their dismay after a couple of years of earning that voice. It wasn't OK when Lindros did it…and it's STILL NOT OK talk about self entitled selfish little f**ks … makes me sick
Gauthier wanted to burn a year off his contract and play for the Flyers at the end of last season, like most star US College players, and the Flyers said no. Even after the Flyers changed GMs he refused to talk to them. If you don't want to lose a 1st round draft pick from the US College system you usually bring them in for at least 10 games at the end of the season to ensure they sign. We've seen the Canucks bring in guys early for just that reason.
