@Montreal Canadiens

His days are numbered..

OK Guys, it’s time to take a look at the recent news surrounding Sean Monahan. Darren Dreger on insider trading yesterday mentioned that Monahan and the Montreal Canadiens already had an agreement when his contract was signed. That the Habs would try and MOVE Monahan at the Trade deadline to a contending team. Let’s chat about it!

The articles that were in the video were screenshots from Habsfanatics.com, I highly reccommend you to check out this site for further Habs News,

  1. If Montreal trades Monahan and keeps Slakovsky, they are making a grave mistake. The best trade would be to send Slakovsky to Calgary in exchange for Sharongovich. That's a one-for-one deal that would make a lot of sense in my opinion.

  2. Personally I like what Monahan brings to the team however it’s quite obvious we’re not making the playoffs so get the best value possible on all trade chips don’t fuck it up this time and bring in talent offensive talent and not a Smurf and I’m a life long fan we have a lot of pumped up talent however in the real world not so much get rid of the inexperienced coaches minus Marty and no excuses next year they need to start competing im done watching a rebuild at that point . Generating 15 shots a game is NOT a winning recipe

  3. No one in their right mind would voluntarily want go play im Montreal. Not by choice. If given the choice Arizona is a better destination than Montreal.

  4. I suspect a lot of teams will be inquiring about him. I heard Colorado might be interested & everyone knows Boston has been looking for another center, so I could see a scenario where a 3 team trade involves him going out west only to be flipped to Boston. I could see him going back to Calgary too.

  5. Id prefer to keep him, you need a few veteran to support the young crop. Ultimately its up to Monahan, I like the player friendly theme Kent has going

  6. Derek ya go Monohan is my cousins cousin. I'd like to see him on the Bruins. Same as I said years ago about Rider.

  7. In my perfect world, If the Habs don't make the playoffs, I would be happy for Monahan to get treaded to a Stanley cup contender, he gets a shot at the cup and he comes back to Montreal next season. And in that trade, Montreal gets a first round pick they can package in a trade to get a top 6 forward.

  8. Hey Junkie, I work at the airport and met Dvorak. I swear to God I have evidence of his best smile yet. Let me know if you want it!

  9. They should trade him at the deadline to a cup contender and then sign him as a free agent during the summer

  10. savards , armia , premue & gallager days should be numbered numbered, keep monahan!!!!! oh yes get rid of the none motivating coach st louie

  11. I understand were trying to build for the future but I would keep him because we have always struggled with centers and now we have good quality centers it's not worth going back to sqaure one again looking for a top center

  12. Nah, the guy is a shell of his former self. I'd only want him on my team if they would take a beer and a bag of popcorn

  13. Maybe he'll leave with Edmonton after tomorrow night's game.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts after tomorrow night's game as well.
    Keep up the good work.

  14. Its time for a package deal. We have so many prospects and still loaded on draft picks for the next 2 years.
We have to bundle Monahan with a prospect or two and a draft pick or 2 for a blue chip top 6 forward.

If we dont dont do that,it's gonna create a huge bottleneck on our 40 man roster with all the assets we have.

I see that happening and I see a trade with the Ducks. They are loaded upfront with young talents, we are loaded in the backend with youngsters. I say bring Zegras and see what happens.

  15. Calm down Darren. I love Monahan, but I dont think his 66 games played with the Habs and the fact he's just 29 y-o earned him that much of a special treatment.
He's a Habs asset like any other and the sole goal should be to maximize return.

  16. Yes, many contenders will want him. I lean more towards someone who’s already in the NHL, say Knies. Or we could do a 3-way to get Zegras by making Popcorn available.

  17. I'd like to keep him, but I also know the Habs aren't gonna be competitive for a few years still.
    He'd definetly be worth a 1st rounder!

  18. There is maybe 3 guys on the team that could demand a first round pick otherwise any trade the habs make will be pointless.Even if we get a first round pick when is the last great first round pick the team made …/sigh.
This team needs a lot of work a trade or two won't fix it.The habs fan base is nothing like when I grew up this fan base reminds me of the Leafs for years every player was great nobody could do no wrong and guess how many cups the Leafs have won in the last 50 years…./sigh.
I do NOT want to see anymore trades for Dach's and Newhooks especially not giving up first round picks. As for Monahan I am ok keeping him because I can't see any manager offering more than a second round pick …IF your lucky.

  19. A lot of people moaning that we should keep him.

Look, the only way Monahan stays, is if the Habs are 2 or less points out of a playoff spot come the trade deadline and Hughes decides to roll the dice and go for it.

This 5-7 points out eventually, may as well be 20pts out. With fewer and fewer games to make up the deficit, it is going to be impossible to overcome that number of points.

As far as a return. I would say a first for sure or a prospect. Now if the Habs want to help a really cash strapped team out and retain 50% of his salary, granted it isn't much, but maybe it helps a team get Monahan under the cap for them, then I say a first and a prospect, or 2 prospects.
