This NHL season makes no sense

Sam Reinhart scored a beauty game winner in overtime as the Panthers beat the L.A Kings 3-2 on Thursday night! That and more on today’s NHL Hockey video!

  1. Not even a mention for Dobson?

He is having the most surprising year of anyone in the league…3rd highest scoring defensemen and possibly leading the race for the Norris.

  2. I'm not surprised at all that Hyman is on track for his best season yet. When Evander Kane joined the team, he had been playing for years and had only one hat trick to his name. Thanks to the Oilers, he now has eight. There's something about the way McDavid leads the team that just "unlocks" certain players. Now obviously I'm not for a second doubting Hyman's playing ability- I'm a MASSIVE fanboy for Hyman mind you- and I'm also not doubting Kane either. I just think McDavid has a way of helping these players unleash their true potential.

  3. if the Sabres are sellers at the deadline teams should be knocking down their doors to get anyone on offer. They'll turn into at bare minimum great players if not cup champions. (Reinhart)

  4. Reinhart has a great hands, he's adding to his value every goal from here on out, when a guy scores a lot of goals the contract will reflect that and rightly so, 10 mil sounds about right

  5. Reinhart’s having a career year but I’m pretty certain he’s been just a bit over a point per game during his tenure with us. I know the FO is prioritizing him this offseason. I think they’ll give him 9-9.5MM AAV. It seems low but with Florida taxes in play, he’d be clearing the same as someone playing in Canada making $11MM

  6. On open market, yeah Reinhart might get 10M to 10.5M considering how other deals have been made of late. In Florida though he might end up getting 8M, because the team has shown it is uninteressed in paying silly money to people with carreer years. So depends if he wants the bag or stay in Florida.

  7. matthews would be close to 50 already if he scored instead of hitting all the posts he has this year

  8. I saw Hyman coming in and basically embodying Ryan smyth… Which he does, but he's a truly grind-it-out, all-around player

  9. If Reinhart doesn't get his money from Florida I'd like to think no one else will give that much to him. Are teams really going to think he is this good. Its one season. Its clearly the system the Panthers play. No one going to be fooled by this right. Ahh who am I kidding someone will throw a bucket of cash at him and then regret it when he goes back to his normal numbers on their team.

  10. Reinhart will stay in Florida even at a discount to what he might get elsewhere. It's clear he wants to be on a winning team, Panthers owners have really dialed in on team culture, south Florida is a fun and exciting area, and Florida is income-tax free, an advantage over most other teams and a huge advantage over anything in Canada.

  11. I bet Reinhart takes 8 or 9mil over 8 years. Remember no state taxes in Florida so it's like a 10-11 mil deal in Canada lol. His success is largely due to playing with Barkov on the top line and Barkov and Tkachuk on the top power play. He was this good last year during the playoffs and end of the year run for Florida as well, but he had the responsibility of centering the 3rd line and making it incredibly dangerous for a depth scoring line. He was also on the 2nd pp unit if I remember correctly which also was deadly. He's been rewarded with more ice time and he's been consistently producing all year long. This isn't a short stretch where he's gotten hot. He's scores almost every night. Tkachuk seemed to be playing a bit timid early on this year, almost like he was still nursing the after affects of a broken sternum? Or perhaps he just needed his center Bennet back to heat up, and start scoring. Now he's on fire too which is bad news for other teams. The Panthers are looking like a legitimate cup contender this year and not a dark horse team.

  12. I thought Verhaeghe getting 30goals with the panthers was insane but Reinharts pace is even more insane hes playing like Jonathan Cheechoo during that one season. Reinhart is playing with Barkov though gotta keep that in mind.

  13. Reinhart is only a surprise because he hasnt played up to being the second overall pick that he was. This should have happened years ago

  14. Reinhart scores 30+ goals with the panthers every year. He is usually a 2nd half of the year guy. If he stays in Florida he'll make between $9-9.5 and if he leaves he'll get Nylander money. God bless no state income tax in Florida
