NHL Highlights | Canucks vs. Sabres – January 13, 2024

In a surprisingly low-scoring game for the Vancouver Canucks, Thatcher Demko was the star of the show, stopping 26 of the 27 shots he faced for his fourth shutout of the year and Sam Lafferty scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over the Buffalo Sabres.

  1. Watching Power try to out muscle him by putting all his weight on Millers head..only to get headlocked himself. Size? Age? Nah thats just a weak boy in a mans body.

  2. We should have walked all over Buffalo.
The result is good. It's nice to see Demko let in less than 3 on this trip, but Tochett will be having words.
In the end, a win is a win.

  3. Canucks are winning low scoring games while driving the other team to distraction by giving timely borderline hits. I'm just glad JT didn't break his hand in that fight that was initiated by Buffalo trying to "send a message" after Dahlin was hurt.

  4. That was a horrible job by the ref (especially #42) for the entire game. He totally lost control. Just despicable. Why didn't he call Greenway for an obvious hit to the head on Lafferty? It was 10 feet away and he definitely saw it. The game went to hell after that. Then he starts calling BS penalties on the Canucks. Why did he call Miller for a hit to the head? Those are allowed are they not?: Then they review it for a MAJOR? Greenway's hit was an obvious MAJOR!!! None of the calls on the Canucks were anywhere near as bad or obvious as the one he missed. I hope never to see that clown ref another game at this level again. He was simply horrible.

Hint: Shorty is the best in the business.

  6. Offside is such a stupid rule.. not in the spirit of hockey what so ever. A fast paced game.. stop the clock and watch replays to ruin the fun of goals because of an inch of someone’s foot..

  7. Getting a bit weary of watching Mikheyev get grade-A chances and not being able to convert 90% of them. A tired Canuck team still manages to get a win. The Canuck goaltending this year is the difference. Demko and DeSmith are giving the team every chance to win. And what about Sam Lafferty?! – what a steal! -how/why did the Leafs let him go?

  8. 3:56 I thought once the puck touches the blue line players can enter the offensive zone? Does the puck have to cross the blue line and enter the zone before a player's skate? I remember Scotty Bowman suggesting the blue lines should be four feet thick for this very reason and this would create more flow, speed up the game and get rid of chintzy offside calls.

  9. The Canucks forechecking is unreal….It would have been nice to see Miller get a Gordie how hatrick. That glove was dirty….lol

  10. we got the state sweep, and even though I predicted it would be a 3-0 win, I was right on the shutout part lets go

  11. Vabcouver Canucks are just playing exceptionally right now. They won every game on the New York State tour with offense, defense, and of course, goaltending. Don't forget that due to their geographic location, they also have the longest average travel times required to go from game to game. I hope they keep this amazing effort up!

  12. A spicy match, the Sabres proved a tough nut to crack. But Lafferty shows good positional and handling skills for the goal and Demko has another solid game. Gotta say Miller showed some grit, he gets a place on two dance cards and shows he's up for the challenge. Terrific effort in a scrappy afternoon tilt. Also, Sportsnet, if Demko stops 26 of 27 shots it's a tie game, not a shutout. You folks ok over there?

  13. The stupid actions after a hit are getting worse. Is this league turning into the women's league?

  14. Молодцы Касатки, продлили до 5побед выездную серию, показали разный хоккей который им принес успех в этих матчах.
