Roberts was a lacrosse player before hockey and not scared of anyone. He got tougher as his career went on, became a much better fighter. Miller wouldn't have had his way with him had they tangled 3 years later
Most amazing thing is how the Kings listened to Gretzky (for a moment) Baumer was going after Hunter for knocking him down Gretzky said no and he INSTANTLY stopped

This is just yet another reason why I simply cannot accept Gretzky as the greatest hockey player of all time. The original hit was legal and quite frankly, it was pillow soft. Next thing ya know, his goon squad comes roaring in. "Can't touch Gretz! Or you'll pay the price!" That's why Tim Hunter knocked him down…because they saw that garbage when he was an Oiler with Cement Head Dave Semenko and McSpud Marty McSorely. It's not hard to amass the kind of points Gretzky had when no one on the ice will touch you! 😕 Not saying he wasn't talented but those stats would have been greatly reduced if every team played hard against him and actually laid a body check once in awhile…
