When collaborating with a photographer it’s usually very challenging to find an image that looks good cropped to the proportions of an extremely long, skinny ski shaped canvas. However in this collaboration with Colton Jacobs, while browsing through his portfolio, this photo basically reached out to me screaming, “put me on a ski!” The trees stretched perfectly from tip to tail and we loved the way the high contrast black trees popped off the white background creating a super clean, yet surreal vibe.
It’s incredibly uncommon to see a forest full of black burnt trees against the backdrop of such a pristine white canvas of virgin snow. Colton was skiing through the woods in central Oregon when he stopped to look up and realized he was in the middle of a small blizzard, surrounded by burnt pines. Lucky for all of us, he pulled out his camera shot this photo.
