Advanced analytic people constantly say how bad Goodrow is, but then there’s this.. this just proves how these stats are so wildly inconsistent and really don’t translate to anything useful.

Goodrow needs to be bought out or moved after this season. A better player with that line would be a legit checking line.

I’m not an analytics expert, but I get the sense that these expected goals stats have a tough time distinguishing between a (decent scoring chance fired into the goalie’s shoulder) and (a skilled goal scorer shooting a laser to the top corner). It seems to overrate players who are below average finishers and underrate players who have a hard and accurate shot.

Well frankly it is more an indictment of how bad the “stars” are than a comment on how good he is. I really like him…… but the guy has been cut and thrown away all over the league for a reason. He is a try hard guy…… and on this team trying hard is enough to make you better than “stars”
