    I support keeping him past the deadline if we are in the hunt even if we lose him for nothing.

    With his NTC, his trade value is likely not too high (see last years trade to NYR). Teams know the situation and are unlikely to pay top dollar without a contract in place for him. Better to keep him and try to do something new and see if we can convince him to stay in the off-season.
