  1. Man I agree and disagree. That 3-2 goal was off of a giveaway but that happens every night
the issue with Samsonov is he isn’t the goalie to steal a game when the team needs it. Every team in the league no matter how good or bad needs a goalie that can do that because even the best teams have bad defensive nights. That 3-2 goal was textbook even if it’s off a giveaway. The leafs as a team had a not great performance, but with the focus on samsonov. He was good enough in key moments, but not good enough in medium to low danger which has been the issue all along. Giving up softies.

  2. I don’t care who they have in net, give them the best goalie in the league, their blue line is garbage. Any goalie will have their confidence destroyed by that blue line roster.

  3. Sammy gave the team a chance to win. They didn't take advantage of it. Goaltending is definitely not the Leafs only problem. They want to play at a high level which is not working out for them. Some nights it works very well. Then there are the nights the scorers don't score. I don't want to even think about those nights.

  4. It's a shame nobody who lives in Detroit watch this game everyone was focused on the Lions playoff game nobody even cared if they won but it's a cold day in hell the Pistons won the Lions won and the Red Wings won in 2 days it's also only 1° outside Fahrenheit if even

  5. So in the end, the money determines who stays or who goes.
Perhaps Detroit is a good team.
They lost to “The greatest franchise” Oilers 2-1 in OT, recently.
So beating Sampsonov is to blame.
What you’re not going to blame the massive weight of Unbearable Contract status, so you blame the goalie.

  6. Toronto and Edmonton doing what they do best, chewing up goalies and spitting them out because they do nothing to help them and blame them for everything. The fans and media in those markets are toxic for goalies. You’d have to be a fool to go to these teams as a goalie.

  7. Just want to give credit to the wings, not everything is about "the leaf's messed up so they lost" Wings played an amazing game, a marked improvement from the last oilers game. I have been very impressed at how adaptable the wings are, and how they use loses as a learning tool rather than let it get to them. And Reimer as well as Lyon have been expectational in net, Huso needs to be traded, because those two goalies are all the wings need, playing like true playoff level goaltenders. Wings just needs more aggression like we have seen against the kings game and this one, as well as better defense to take pressure off the goaltending.

  8. With a roster like the leafs they shouldn’t be having all these problems. Even though I hate them they should be at the top of the league every year including the playoffs.

  9. Well where was Brodie on the Reilly broken stick? He should of been hustling back but he can't because he's old and slow.

  10. It is obvious that the team does not want to have Samsonov as the starting goalie and I don't blame them his drop flop and flail technique is ineffective to say the least

  11. Starts at the top. Brad Tredying and Dumbas before him have completely failed to solve the goal tending situation. You can tell this team has no confidence in their keepers.

  12. Roy never picked it up and hot dogged it. The puck was underneath him, and Roy thought it was in his glove. I just needed to fact check you there.

  13. Nylander playing defense on ANY night, turns out to be a disaster, plus $59.75 MILLION on the ice for your power play and you don't score, you might as well skate off the ice and don't come back!!!

I've seen Ringette games, with more drive to the net, these clowns should all be sitting on the bench and put out your 3 and four lines, because your getting the same results!!!

  14. ngl ive been a brody hater since time, samsonov is still not back to what he was yet and might never be but he did have a good night and the leafs problems lie in their defense and goaltending

  15. Even though the poke was super telegraphed and probably ill advised anyways Samsonov was only an inch from making good on it and the plan B judo slap recovery almost worked out. Larkin's goal was an inch inside the post top corner cross body, but you're absolutely right on that one if his shoulders were square against that post no way does that go in. Then Cobb off the post low blocker and if you look at how Sammy was doing it, he was clearly trying to hold the blocker in against his body which isn't a bad call while sliding over like that to cover low blocker completely against the body and pressure the shooter to find that outside post or just about – a bit more push and he had that one completely squared off. Rielly's pirouette giving up the center lane completely to Sprong and the blind pass by Liljegren behind the net with his partner standing right next to him in the corner, man… absolutely where most of the blame should go, spot on!

Samsonov also had a few Ocean's Eleven level rob jobs and pretty straightforward adjustments on what he let in which is way better than the mental breakdowns he seemed to be having before they sent him down – don't flying poke or don't telegraph it as much, square up your shoulders against that post when the puck is behind the net, push an extra inch and move your blocker an extra inch over when the shooter is boxed out in the slot like that and you have to get over… these are simple changes this guy can make, and it clearly shows he's been working to get back to where he was which is a huge relief. Great breakdown of what really happened on these plays! I didn't put together how Rielly cooked himself with that spin of indecision on the broken stick play when I saw it live👌
