Something else to keep in mind with a jaw injury: his jaw is likely wired shut in order to keep it immobile while it heals. as a chicago fan it’s all we have to clutch onto at this point is this absolute kid. i’ve played hockey since i was 7 in chicago and the hawks have never gotten more press than now and TBH the bedard stuff is getting over the top, he didn’t get shot he just broke his jaw. however regardless of how much press he’s getting now he’s only going to get more, the first few seasons he’ll be blasted everywhere bc the NHL wants EVERYONE to know and hear this kids name.
his skating is no surprise.. as you pointed out.. it's a jaw injury.. he needs to stay in shape so that when he's cleared, he much closer to playing than if he just sat on his backside and let the muscles totally atrophy… Will he be ready to play soon… probably not for at least another month.. could be more..

He should continue to use that Full Face Shield until he is 21! . still a kid. If it was grown Man that got his Jaw broken, he would've been back the next period playing. Just saying it even if you don't like it! it is a true fact!
This is the same thing michael jordan did when he busted his ankle back in the late 80s, all he wanted to do is get back out and play because he loved the game and everyone freaked out

I’m not surprised he’s on the ice already. Just wear a full cage he’ll be alright. It’s crazy but the kid wants to play. He’s 100% besides that jaw. As long as he’s not getting hit up high in the head/face area. And he will probably participate in the All star game stuff now. Which is cool.
Valimaki and Maccelli both suffered significant face injuries and were back playing games like a week later, bedard returns to practice a week later and everyone loses their shit
Guys use to play in full contact games with broken Jaws in the NHL great players like LaFontaine did it and was very productive in a much more contact full league at that time…..get the jaw protector and go out and earn your money.
This is nothing. Zdeno Chara broke his jaw and 3 days later started game 5 of the Stanley Cup finals against my St. Louis Blues. About 1 minute into the game Brayden Schenn threw a check at Chara up near his chin and it barely fazed him. Now that's a badass
