Paul Coffey I believe has more impact than the coach. His influence on the defense men on oilers has had a huge impact on how they are playing the game. Which has lead to all the other stuff to start working for the team

I think #2 in the Pacific is realistic expectation. I think the Canucks, although stronger goaltender and defensive core, don't have scoring depth to make a deep run this year so I see the Oil going all the way .. they have more playoff experience than the Canucks and I don't see Vegas or Colorado being consistent enough to oust us this year .. Believe
The Oilers current play has me very optimistic because it feels like a very good formula for winning playoffs games. Strong back checking with patient, structured zone defense, and the best offense off the cycle in the league.

Canucks are still ahead of them.

Gotta be honest I had lost hope before Knoblauch and Coffey came in and never been happier to been proven wrong! Not only did they make one of the most incredible comebacks ever seen, they broke a franchise record in the process.
need to win 3of4 to catch Vegas- which is decent… but guys are relaxers at the core…. will want to relax soon – not back check so much when used to be allowed to just skate back to get close to the play. acting more like a team which is fun to see… how do they stack up against the very best… will be fun to see. (esp as they have $5mil, $2mil-Neal, & $3 mil-Brown2024 in wasted Cap… plus owner having to pay out Yamo $3.1m to leave… That said – doing great !!!!
I think that Edmonton are going to finish second in the Pacific, behind Vancouver and ahead of Seattle. Vegas has been hovering around the .500 mark since the beginning of November, and I wouldn't be surprised if they miss the playoffs entirely. I think LA is probably going to be able to hold on to a wildcard spot.
Skinner's made the biggest difference. McDavid still needs work on his 200 ft game- it'll come and he'll only get better.
But I just looked over the standings. Edmonton is already in Wild card contention because they're so many games behind everyone else in their division ahead of them.
They've only played 39 games
Canucks have played 44 games
Vegas & Nashville 43 games
So the standings are skewed.
If they won all five of the games Vancouver has in hand, they'd still be 5 points behind, yet still ahead of Kings by one point. So I'm going to say that's how they land – right behind Canucks.
I'd like to see them take out Vegas this year.

10 game winning streak is impressive and broke a franchise record. Which makes it easy to forget the oilers had a 9 win game streak recently tying record in the same season.
To have a 10 and 9 win streak consecutively… Is even more insane.
