Tavares on the hostile reception he received on Long Island: ‘I expected it was coming’
John Tavares gives his thoughts on the hostile reception he received in his return to Long Island, and describes the emotions that were going through his mind during his video tribute.
Tavares wanted to act like he was some role player "when I played here" when he lied and left the team in the lurch. thank god Lou and Coach Trotz are there to right the ship.

I wouldn't be surprised if JT looked back after some time and admitted to everyone that the should have handled the situation better.
"I tried to be honest and open" right thats why you stayed adamant that you were staying till after the trade deadline ended and not only did they lose a power forward and their best forward but they then couldn't even get anything from the loss in a trade acquisition. Some of the comments he has made since confirmed this, plus his fiance took a job in Toronto 6months before he signed… keep telling yourself whatever it is you need to sleep at night Johnny, you screwed the team for your own benefit and earned every one of the boos you got that night.
As a Isles fan, I thought the chants were really funny but let’s be real if we all had the chance to play in your hometown nhl team, we would all probably do it
Sorry Tavares was not honest. His intention all along was to go to Toronto. If he was honest, he would have stated that early on so The islanders maybe could have got something in return from Toronto instead of him signing with Toronto as a free agent. He signed for less money with Toronto. Isles offer was better. Karma is a b——.
