Drury Trade Deadline

Okay, we’re getting close to the ASG & start of the trade deadline.

What’s the first move by Drury?

Personally, I’d like to see him start the action at the deadline and make the first move of the contenders. Let the team have some time together in the Lavi system.

My thought is a returning Vladdy.

First move will screw up the team chemistry , then acquire an over paid past his prime veteran in a trade for picks and prospects . Then trade a guy the fans like for low round picks to make the salary of the new vet work under the cap and proceed to get bounced in the first maybe second round

Vladdy wouldn’t waste his time Lol. He’s already done this why come back?

Pls Drury bring our boy home and get him to stay this time

People love talking TDL stuff when we’re going to have literally no cap space (unless we pull the LTIR loophole with Chytil).

The only way we make any sort of move is by dumping resources in order to get rid of Goodrow’s contract. He has a 15-team no trade list, so we may end up having to do a 3 way deal, which would ultimately involve dumping even more draft capital / prospects.

It’s gonna be a tough TDL. Maybe we can convince a team to retain salary by hemorrhaging draft capital, but not sure that’ll really help us land any super attractive prospects.

This fanbase is obsessed with bringing guys back. We don’t need Tarasenko imo gimme a winger who forechecks like his hair is on fire and plays solid defense.

  7. It’s gonna be a guy on none of our radars like usual and then we will spend all of next season begging for them to come back when they are too expensive

Anthony Duclair would be a solid addition. I know he was a one time Ranger but his game has really developed nicely since he left.

Give me Vova or Vatrano. I need one of my boys back!

Let’s be honest here….at this point in the season we all kind of know what this team is lacking. We all or most of us realize our cap space is very limited.

Look if Chytil comes back and Drury can acquire some depth pieces for really low end picks like 5th or 6th rounders, we have as good a chance as any team right now.

The key to us winning isn’t going to be adding a major piece at center. The key is whether or not Mika and Kreider can find their games come playoff time and be the best players on the ice in games that matter the most. And the same exact thing applies to Panarin. No deadline deal is going to make those 3 not fold when the pressure is on. It has to come from them.

We need our best players to be the best players in april and may. If they aren’t it doesn’t matter who we acquire come march. We are a 1 and done team.

I am all for acquiring a young talented center but those are 1 and million odds. Do to the ineptitude of our management this team is essentially locked in roster wise for the next 3 years. Nothing major is going to happen unless someone gets bought out or agrees to wave their no move clause.

You want to acquire a center like Lindholm with the 4 million cap relief we could get if Chytil stays out til the playoffs? But what is that going to cost? What does the return have to be? You think Calgary is going to just gift Lindholm to us for a couple late round picks and some cash? Probably either Perrault or Othmann are gone, plus a 1st and some other amount of picks. Is it really worth it? We can’t keep him next year….we don’t have the cap space.

Is Lindholm the final piece to the puzzle? Does getting Lindholm makes us a Cup favorite? Getting Kane supposedly did and that got us knocked out in the 1st round.

Stick to the plan and just keep drafting. If we win a cup great…if not let’s just keep drafting talent and limit our cap hit. So if the day ever arises where we might have a chance at a Bedard or McJesus we have the cap room to acquire them.

FWIW, i firmly believe you could keep kakko on line 1, no production, elite defensive play, and focus the entire deadline on fixing the bottom 6 depth so we can get some depth scoring. If we do that, and then fix the special teams PP, and depending on chytil status, add someone like Elias Lindholm, we are good to go

Duclair and Monahan would be nice depth. I’m curious if they explore another trade to bring in a solid defensemen. Personally would love Novak in the bottom 6

Vladdy’s cap hit of $5.5 mil is far too high unless we get double retention with a 3rd team and even then it will be tight due to Fox, chytil and kakko’s LTIR stints so far this year (which blocks us of accruing cap space). Unless chytil is gonna be an LTIR hold until playoffs, we won’t see a big name addition. I think it will be a forward at a smaller cap hit that can hopefully slot in up and down the lineup and provide some secondary scoring along with solid two way play. The one move we could make to change this is attaching significant assets to goodrow, but that is far more likely an off-season move this year or the following summer.

Adding a point scorer doesn’t seem to be the answer.

Our defensive needs to stop sucking , and our top players need to play like stars .
Only one I like adding is the Duke tbh.
Although vladdy did play well in the playoffs
