Benning Era has me puckerin my butthole at the thought of trades, but its definitely turned into a ride or die kinda season

Just no Willander or Bruz….and probably Lekkerimaki.

Everything else should be on the table….1sts. Podz. Hog. D-Petey.

I’m almost more interested on who we’ll be moving out, than who we’re bringing in.

Kuzmenko seems to be the most obvious choice, or maybe even a guy like Mikheyev. The problem would be the way other teams value them, at their current hit, in a flat cap world. I’m not sure you’re getting upgrades of any kind without adding some pretty big value assets.

I would be shocked if we moved off Myers, given the role he’s currently playing, and how well he’s been doing it. Like the forwards listed, he’s not really somebody you’re going to be able to move and upgrade on without a pretty big asset tacked on.

I could see us paying for a player with some term, and then paying an addition cost for the team to retain salary. Something along the lines of a Marcus Foligno player, good size and two way ability, has potted 20 goals before (outlier season) and is tough as nails. His new deal kicks in next year at 4×4, which is probably an overpayment TBH, but if you can get that number down to 2.5×4, it’s a steal for a guy who can play up and down the lineup. Would look at a team like Chicago for the retention piece, as Minny is going to be in cap hell moving forward with their buyouts of Suter and Parise. They shed an overpayment, so I don’t think the price would be high. Chicago seems to be intent on wasting their own cap space for free, so I’d be curious what the cost would be to expedite the process.

My bets would be on Kuzmenko/Hoglander being the bodies moved out this year, and some picks. Curious to see what kind of play driving players shake loose at the deadline and become available.

I knew it. I was really hoping they weren’t going to cheap out on the deadline and it’s good Allvin can read the room. Imagine going into the locker room after the deadline and telling the players “We didn’t add anyone because, we believe you can all do it!”. Like c’mon, adding a top 6 forward and another depth defenceman is the bare minimum. The Canucks worked so hard this year. It’s time to reward them.

*Alright, so should I get a Guentzel jersey today or…*

  6. I’m absolutely okay with dealing one of our top prospects because the system is pretty well stocked, especially if it’s for a guy like Guentzel. Gotta give up something to get something, but either way, let Allvin cook, he’s done well so far

My gut feeling is, we see them take another home-run swing for a top-6 forward that isn’t really on peoples radar. Similar to the JT Miller or Filip Hronek Trade.

A name I think checks a ton of boxes for Van (but *probably* isn’t available) is **Lawson Crouse**.

26 year old powerforward, locked up for 4 more years. Coming off 24 goals and on pace for 34. Stylistically seems like a good fit on the Miller/Boeser and seems like a player Toch’ would love.

I’d have 0 issue giving up this years 1st + 2nd for Lawson Crouse. I’d also look at 1st + Podkolzin. You probably even need to add a 3rd piece.

Other than that, I would try to add someone like Bogosian/Stecher for cheap as some added rhd depth.

Jim Rutherford traded for Doug Weight and Mark Recchi when he was Carolina’s GM — and won the cup. Allvin has made more moves than any other GM this year by a landslide. This team is not afraid to wheel and deal when the time is right, and the window has never been more open.

As much as it pains me to say it we basically need a guy that’s exactly Bo Horvat.

I wonder if there are any 2C’s he could snag for a bargain ala Hronek. Don’t think he was on the market but we overpaid to pry him out. Been saying angry takes about Batherson & Norris constantly this season, wonder if we could make a swing for either.

  10. Why do people think that we are getting Guentzel? The Pens are still in win now mode.

My hope for the deadline is a number 2 center. If Allvin can get that accomplished, I will be very happy. But I will agree. I think the front office owes it to this team to go out and add another piece. This team has been fantastic this season.

I’d rather see sustainable success than an all or nothing season. I trust Allvin to do the right thing.

I just wouldn’t sacrifice too much future.
