The Dallas Stars win in overtime over the Seattle Kraken by a final score of 4-3 last night. After a late goal from the Kraken to send the game to OT, Matt Duchene who scored twice, set up Thomas Harley for the game winning goal to earn the extra point and sit in a tie for first place in the Central Division. Along with a three point night from Duchene, Tyler Seguin and Mason Marchment continue to be the most effective trio for Dallas this season. Joey explains how a lot of the numbers may favor the Kraken on the scoresheet, but the eye test showed the Stars we’re clearly the better team and if special teams could have capitalized it would have ended in regulation. Scott Wedgewood made 35 saves in the win after taking a shot in the neck area early in the game that caused a delay. Joey then discusses the coming out party for Harley this season. His OT winner is a team leading 8th goal of the season by Stars defensemen, and is the only defensemen in the NHL with a power play goal, shorthanded goal and overtime goal and one off the league lead. He’s having a huge impact and needs to be playing more than he his to help take some pressure of Miro Heiskanen. To wrap up the episode, Joey relays the official ruling on Jake Oettinger who suffered a lower body injury in his last start. He will be listed as Day to Day and Head Coach Pete DeBoer said they recieved “Good news”.

I was at the game. We sit in the end where the Stars defend twice, so we had a Birds Eye view of the OT GWG! Stars win!!!
I thought it was not a great defensive game. Definitely some awful and key mistakes. Power play was really bad. Also are struggling getting the puck out of there zone effectively . It's impressive they have won as much as they have. They can definitely play better
I really hate the small passes to get the puck out of the defensive zone. All teams know to come in hard with a hit or forecheck and cause a turnover. Our defensemen are soft and get pushed around. And most times the puck ends up in the back of our net.
Wedgewood had a great performance 🎭 between the pipes, the team rallied around him. They will need him to be a wall in the next 12 games until Oettinger comes back. Matt Murray could also be used for 3 or 4 of them.
Joey, thank you for answering EBUG question. Another question. It is not an easy topic. We six years removed from 2017 draft. Miro vs Cale, NHL like anything in our society is result oriented business. And results are not in the Number 3 pick favor so far.And, the Stars had a chance to select either one. I believe it would be an interesting albeit a controversial topic of Locked on Stars.Also, it would be fun to have a discussion between Locked on Stars and Locked on Avalanche presenters. The full analysis probably will happen once both players retired though. However, six years after draft and , five NHL seasons is an ample amount of time. Thank you.
