What Marner actually said.

Jesus whoever posted that quote that’s being regurgitated is a clickbait dick. This is by no means a great quote by Marner but not nearly as bad as the tweet quoted.

  2. He obviously gave two quotes. Fox doesn’t hear this and tweet what he said.

  3. I’ll admit to being too quick to post that Fox tweet, postgame frustration and all that. After having seen the postgame availability I’m more than happy to see both Matthews and Marner express some frustration with their recent losses. Fox definitely gave a one sided picture of what Mitch said, but the “what Marner actually said” don’t erase the fact that he also said what Fox quoted

Am I the only one who thinks this doesn’t make the quote any better? Or less bad, whatever. The leafs were not “good defensively”

You’d think as a fandom that we’d have learned like a decade ago not to listen to paraphrased quote snippets on twitter. This happens constantly lol

This makes me feel bad a tad for ranting a bit earlier. Just rack up a few wins, and show us that fire a bit.

Luke Fox is a clickbait troll don’t give him attention.

I don’t even find a problem with the quote Fox put out. I don’t really bitch about regular season losses unless they are absolutely horrific (Buffalo lose, Colorado loss etc.)

Even if they played like the Boston Bruins did last regular season, people here would not be happy. They could be 82-0 and people here would not be happy.

Mo could win the Norris and Matthews sweeps all the awards and people here would not be happy.

We care about playoff results so I’ll just wait till the playoffs begin (and yes despite this shitty rough patch, they will make the playoffs comfortably).

Oilers fan here. I posted this in the (edit) /r/hockey thread but yeah I always wait to see the full context and the demeanor of the speaker before jumping at these types of quotes.

Before the 2022 playoffs, Draisaitl got torn apart on that sub because he was quoted as saying “I wouldn’t want to play us in the playoffs.” As if he personally called a press conference, said “Y’all are fucked,” and then took a shit on the other team’s logo and dropped the mic on it.

In reality, he was asked a generic question like, “how would you describe the mood of the team going into the playoffs,” or whatever and he just kind of calmly and candidly said “we’ve been playing solid hockey down the stretch, and when we stick to our game, I dunno, I wouldn’t want to play us in the playoffs,” which is a confident but still pretty safe “hockey answer”

  10. Thank you for making this evident. This guy is off my follow list, and I won’t be reacting to anything this loser says.

That was so out of context and inappropriate, that if I was a Leafs player he’d never get anything from me for the rest of the season.

    What a dick.

Funny how the other post has 100 more comments than this one.

     R/leafs just hates Marner

He’s not wrong, but also he is completely wrong.

Good D is about how many slip ups you have as much as how you play for 56/60 minutes. Good O is about maintaining leads as much as it is about gaining them.
