I’m hoping Fitz doesn’t sell the farm on a goalie this season since Daws was brought up. He has looked pretty damn good in the games he play except for one and I don’t blame him fully for the loss. I say let him ride out the season as #1 and if he doesn’t pan out, go for a goalie in the offseason. Not that I don’t want to Devils to make the playoffs, but it’s been an injury filled debacle of a season and making a bad move trying to make up a few points isn’t worth it. Start fresh with this lineup next season, with a healthy team and either Daws or someone new brought in after the season in net. Trading for one at the deadline will cost us more since the other teams know we are desperate for a few more points to make the playoffs. Honestly, with how beat up this team is, it might be better not to make the playoffs and have more time to heal up on the offseason. It’s hard to even write that because I want to see them lift the Cup again, but in the long run and for the following seasons, it could be for the best. While I do agree that it only takes a few hot lines and a goalie going on a run to win it all, I’m just not seeing it as of right now. Who’s knows though. Anyway, I was at the Florida game sitting on the glass right next to the Holtz’s goal. Wearing my new CCM game issued white Stevens jersey. I got a great video of the goal too. Game was fun and had a few Devils fans next to me which was nice.
Back to your collection. I collect Devils memorabilia also, where did you get the Stevens gear and Marty pads? Meigray?
Sweet setup, my guy. Digging the game used gear. I definitely recognize Marty's pads from 96-97, iirc. (That's the season when I really started following the Devils watching every game). And, of course, the 02-03 glove and blocker. Really nice collection 😎😈LGD
I say stupid stuff when we lose games, things like "our season is f*cking over" or "we're not making playoffs" but after watching this I feel like we can still do this. Once some of the guys come back and aclimate a little, feel like we can really be dangerous. Even if its not this year, we have many more years with this group of guys and we were already projected cup contenders before this year. Anything is possible and WE GOT THIS

I completely agree that Daws should get every game minus the front end of the back to back heading into the break. The schedule sets up perfectly for that type of workload short term. Naturally, you do this with caution, given his injury comeback but it's not that crazy.
One of the reasons, I believe that we don't see Schmid up here and Vanacek waived is that the risk of losing organizational depth in exchange for a goalie who's not that big a step up in Akira is a problem waiting to happen. If Vanacek were to get claimed and an injury were to occur, it could even be worse.
With the way things are in the league, I don't know if there's a realistic trade for a goalie that can be made. Couple that with the historical rarity of in season goalie trades, we turn to Daws for now and hope a less used Vanacek can answer when it's his turn.
Your outlook is the only way to look at the year. The team is in the race, and some of the injured will return. This team should not be selling and throwing in the towel on a season after all those years of rebuilding.
The fact that this group is right there says a lot about the players..and Ruff. They play hard for the guy.
