GM Jason Ripplinger on the trade for Matthew Savoie
Speaking with mojaa Warriors general manager Jason riplinger and uh a very exciting day for the mojaa Warriors organization as the team acquires uh Matthew seavoy from the wachi wild I guess Jason talk about how exciting this is for the team well it’s an exciting day for the organization and the City of
Musaw to bring a player of his caliber to come in and and try to help us win a championship this year people have seen what Matthew can do over the past few years the Warriors facing Winnipeg in the in the playoffs and as well with Team cidate the world juniors but what
Do you expect from him to to bring to this lineup well I believe he’s going to bring a lot of character and uh and grit for us and then obviously uh put the puck in a net for us um I guess what was his reaction to to finding out that he’s
Coming to Musha how excited is he to be a warrior yeah I talked to him this morning really excited uh can’t wait to get here um it’s a big trade obviously seven draft picks going to to wachi in this move uh how hard of a decision was
This to make and and I guess what’s uh kind of your thoughts after it’s kind of settled now well it wasn’t a hard decision put a lot of thought into it um obviously when you make a trade like this and give up that many uh draft
Picks uh we have a plan moving forward and we’re going to stick with it so this year uh our goal is to to try to win championship how important was it to not give up any roster players or any prospects uh in that trade as well well
I think uh for not giving any roster players uh you know you take away your three 20-y olds and and then probably the three 19-year-olds and your whole team’s back next year including your goalie which is uh is real big for us next year uh moving forward yeah was
That a a key part to to be able to continue to build this team to compete in the the coming years as well despite moving out so many assets yeah for sure we think our 06s and 07s are are strong and and we got some good 08 so um
Eventually we’ll have to get some picks back to uh you know fill fill in the holes do you feel like uh the the city’s going to be excited about uh this move and what do you think this signifies uh to to the city well I think the city
Should be real excited I mean the last big trade we made was with uh with kale Cay um but I think this team’s different than than the ‘ 07 they’re both good teams but I think the you know with the parody in our league this year I think
We have a real good chance to win awesome well thank you Jason and congratulations on the big move thank you
