Interesting NHL Edge stats compiled: How the Kraken stack up in the league.

This site aggregates the NHL Edge data into sortable tables. I picked through it quickly to see who stood out on the Kraken in various categories.

**Skating**

Average skate speed: Matty Beniers, #12, followed by Yanni Gourde and Tye Kartye. The whole top 100 is clustered in the 10-11 mph range, but Beniers is higher than I expected. Beniers is actually 8th at even strength, above Connor McDavid.

Top skate speed: Obviously Brandon Tanev, at 23.80 mph, good for 7th in the league. Interestingly, Bellemare was second on the Kraken at 23.22 mph, 31st in the league! No other Kraken was in the top 100.

**Shooting**

Top shot speed for the Kraken goes to Vince Dunn, #11 with 100.7 mph. Oleksiak and Tolvanen are ranked in the 70’s, around 96 mph.

Average shot speed, Will Borgen leads the team, 22nd in the league at 68.61 mph. This favors defenders who take a lot of slap shots, so this makes sense to me.

We have 5 players with the most shots over 90 mph. Tolvanen and McCann are the two forwards, as you might guess. Oleksiak, Dunn, and Larsson are the 3 D’s.

Perhaps most interesting to me were the shot range splits.

Only Kailer Yamamoto was in the top 100 for high danger chances with **74.2%**(!!!) of his shots being high danger, good for 12th in the league.

Most of our shooters were clustered in the mid range, with Matty leading the way at 14th, with 59.3% of his shots. 33.3% of his shots were high danger, leaving only 7.4% from long range.

The other Kraken in the midrange top 100 were who you’d expect: Tolvanen, Bjorkstrand, and McCann. Of those, only Bjorkstrand had a long range shot ratio over 20%. This lines up with his volume shooting, pucks on net approach.

The other stats are largely a function of TOI or position and I don’t think they’re worth discussing further, but feel free to poke around and see if you can find anything cool.

I found this interesting. Hopefully you did too!

This is pretty cool! I knew Yamamoto was a beast!

I love me some Yams so don’t take this the wrong way, but if he’s consistently getting high quality opportunities shouldn’t he have a lot more goals?

Is this actually a good stat for him or maybe not?
