It's nice having a couple weeks of peace and quiet from the Myers haters. A single giraffe gaff and they'll be flipping over tables again though, completely forgetting about how great he's been. And Dhali is so right that next season the team needs young players on cheaper contracts. I really hope the team is thinking "window" of cup runs with Pettersson rather than burning up their prospects for a single Cinderalla story run.
I have been saying this since the start of the season – no matter how well this team is playing, structurally it is still missing a couple pieces to really contend for a Cup run, much less a sustainable team that can contend for the Cup every year. I don't know if the two are mutually exclusive of each other, but my hope is that they would not try to mortgage their future chances of successful runs for this one crack at it this year, no matter how enticing it is… This team does not have the depth to make a deep run as it stands right now.
So canucks really dont want to move anyone. I say stay the course. If the team is good enough to win, theyre good enough to win. If not, bringing in guentzel or anyone else wont help either then depleting our prospects
At this point, they might as well rename this team to the Vancouver Non Canucks. Yesterdayās game vs the BJās, we had exactly ONE Canadian player in the lineup and that was Soucy. Quite an accomplishment
Forget Guentzel for the love of god, too much trade cost and money coming in! We need young and cap cheap options. If it is Kosmenko for Taniff a rental for this year than fine. Many including myself will be out if we have another GM trading our future for a veteran spare part. Look at the history of trade deadline moves as they rarely work. We are at/near the top of the league with the line up we have now and great chemistry going. Please do not try to fix what is NOT broken. Every GM here has traded our future when sniffing the playoffs with NO success. DON'T TRADE TOP CANUCK PROSPECTS AND DRAFT PICKS IN THIS INSANE TRADE DEADLINE COUNT DOWN!!
Anyone who thinks we should mortgage the future to get Guentzel and a better shot at the cup this year – it's going to create years of pain soon enough. I would prefer we keep our UFAs like Myers who are playing well and lose them at the end of this season. Losing those older guys instead of our younger guys could mean we keep contender status for multiple years.
The problem with having all these UFA's is that they are a good team. A LOT of teams will be interested in these players and the other issue is they're in Canada… guys like Petey can sign an $8 million deal down in the US that's equivalent to an $11 million deal in Vancouver… this offseason will be a struggle for Vancouver which is why they should swing for the fences while they have the chance!
If it was up to me I hope the Canucks don't do the Guentzel deal because it is just too costly and I just feel this is not the time right now for us to pay that kind of price for someone especially when we just barely started to fill out our prospect cupboard to make it look respectable at least. So yeah I just don't think the risk is worth it, especially if it's a rental.
The only way we're trading for Jake Guentzel is if Brock goes the other way. Also, if we trade for him, we're hoping he'll re-sign for $8-9mil times 8yrs…
Iāve gone from dread over Tyler Myers to being very, very curious how he would perform in the playoffs when the refs start looking away a bit .. š¤

Been saying since last summer to not sleep on Myers, he will turn a 2nd round pick at deadline.
Already have a new player: Hogaldner
Donny is right. A non-Canadian Pen is exactly who these guys would after.š I think theyll look for someone younger, somehow not canadian, though.
Hogaldner
Not only does Dhali pronounce names wrong he spells them wrong too!

Great comment about Gentzel. The Canucks have almost NO Canadian born players on their roster.

Hogaldner?…Is that Hoglander's party name?
again blowing smoke
Hogaldner lol
Donnie you are not that funny. Donāt constantly interrupt
Nose to the grindstone, ear to the ground, any other body parts pressed up against things we should be aware of?
Guenzel is an elite first liner. Canucks have a shot this year. Do it!
Guentzel is not coming here. Dream on.

Hogaldner? Whoās that?
Who's Hogaldner? You cant confuse Dhaliwal like that.
