    I don’t care what the mandate from the owner is, for the GM to come out and say he expects this team to make the playoffs is pretty insulting to the fans. Either he’s being disingenuous or thinks we’re complete fucking morons.

    Our highest paid players are playing like they’re the lowest paid. Our rookies are the only guys deciding to commit each game.

    not because it makes a difference for us in the standings, but because it makes me happy when they lose

    A lot to unpack in this game, but a few sober observations:

    1. We have to be the slowest team in the league. The team is just plodding about, not a lot of hustle ever. Easy to back check and catch up with.

    2. Board battles are just a lost cause. There is no fight on the boards and any challenge is almost immediately lost. Very soft on the boards.

    3. Face offs have always plagued this team and continue this year, the fact we have sucked for 20+ years is insane.

    4. Hynes is an awful coach. Yeah the players suck, almost all of them. But Hynes is at best the same as Dean. He has the emotion of a wet sock and continues to not have the team ready between periods, slow starts are a plague. He makes no adjustments and is just lost at the pro level, we knew it when he was hired and it is true.

    5. Guerin is a dope. His last presser was idiotic homer BS. Yeah we are in cap hell but to any person could look at this roster and know it sucks. The extensions were god awful, there is no GRIT, there is no heart, this team blows and the fact he has put this team in a spot where we cannot even sell and his coach sucks should cost him his job.

    6. Kaprizov, I don’t know anymore. The guy is just not a game breaker. He has not taken over games, turns over the puck, drops the puck to no one, no way has he been elite in a while. I know the optimistic fans will die reading this but seriously, where is our franchise player???

    The philosophy of having defenseman being overly active offensively has lead to a ton of mistakes. How many times did Middleton, Bogosian and others try to exit the defensive zone too soon leading to a wide open player in the slot. Such sloppy defense.

    I think after the Arizona game (even though the islanders game afterwards was great) I’ve made peace with and accepted that this season and probably next are lost. Idk why it took me this long, probably because I’m naive and gullible and have wishful thinking (and I totally got oversold and fell for our past few seasons when we probably over achieved), but losing so bad again tonight doesn’t hurt as bad as it did almost a week ago.

    At this point I’m fine calling out the blindly optimistic new fans on the sub: we need to fucking tank and be terrible before we can git gud. Fuck making playoffs; I’d prefer we lose every game for the rest of the season except the ones against the aves. Fuck the family friendly bullshit. Fuck first round exits. I want to fucking win a cup, and you mother fuckers bitching about the dOoMeRs are part of the problem.

    Holy bounces Batman. We should be losing these games anyway, but that was just stupendous luck on about 4 goals against. Way she goes.
