  1. Obviously there was a pretty big stretch there in the second period when the shots were like 9-0 for the Coyotes… but even during that period the Canucks were not being outplayed AS badly as that sounds. The first period, I thought they dominated, and the third period was incredibly solid. Especially those last 5 minutes of the game the Canucks looked solid defensively. They didn't look scared in the final seconds, they were working hard and doing what they knew they had to do, instead of looking frazzled. That's huge. So important to get that experience and get rewarded for it, so I really liked that. As well, major props to Miller and the rest of the faceoff crew for winning an unbelievable percentage of the draws. That's worthy of a lot more praise than I've heard it getting.

  2. Arizona has a pretty good scrappy team.
    They played hard.
Canucks had to really work for this win.
Big Z kept them in line. I watched it live. Was a good win.

  3. 2 positive takeaways for me: Obviously the Canucks got the W against a hardworking team playing much better this season, and fighting isn't completely out of hockey. I don't necessarily need to see game delaying, bench clearing brawls that go on forever, but I do miss the style of play in the early 90s. That was when I truly fell in love with the game, having started watching in 1990. You never knew whether you were getting a low scoring or high scoring game and there were hits, fights, and you rarely saw a star player get destroyed because Gino Odjick would make sure that didn't happen. I know it's a different game now, but again, I feel like we lost something over the years and it's a relief that guys will still fight in hockey when they need to. I'd rather see a fight between 2 consenting combatants than a star player who can't fight back get hit in the head or destroyed in some other way because the other guy wants to make a name for himself and probably won't get too severe a punishment. The team, meanwhile, is willing to accept the trade off of injuring the other team's star player and potentially losing a 4th line replaceable player to a suspension. When I started watching hockey, if you even looked at Pavel wrong, Gino would be more than happy to give you a shiner – if Pavel didn't take care of you himself.
