Game notes:
Wings beat leafs 4-2
– Wings arrive basically 90mins before puck drop which means good luck
– Reimer in net, luckily samsomov is at the opposite end.
– Patrick Kane leaves early in the first after taking a weird hit to the hips on the boards then into the boards when backchecking falling a little weird. He does not return this game.
– 3 penalties in the first, but sprongs was a good penalty to stop a high danger scoring opportunity. Wings Stood strong on all of them with multiple chances for breakaways. Larkin and someone had a solid 1on2 on one and almost scored.
– 1st period ends tied 0-0
– Less than a minute in the 2nd period Holmberg scores off a redirect. Nothing James can do there.
– Dylan scores basically at the goal line again from a nice set up from Perron.
– Veleno gets stuffed on an open net by a Tor defender. Should have been 2-1 us.
– Marner scores with less than 2 min to go 2-1 Toronto from a nice pass from Bertuzzi off the bench uncovered
– 3rd period starts and just under 3mins in Speong gets a nice breakaway who dekes out Samsonov on a botched poke check and puts it in backhand to tie it 2-2
– After a back and forth game, with a minute 40 left, Copp seals the leafs fate with a goal to take the lead 3-2
– Leafs pull the goalie and allow an empty netter by Raymond with a dump attempt by Chiarot and off a leaf player and the bench goes wild for Copp and good for him honestly
– Larkin has 7pts in 6 games
– Copp has 5pts in 6 games
– Perron has 5pts in 6 games
– Sprong has 6pts in 6 games
– Petry 3pts in 6 games
– overall, one of the best games I’ve seen the wings play all year. This was a hard fought battle between two of the worst goalies in the league, even Toronto fans were cheering for Samsonov. Wings however took advantage of a sloppy Leafs team who gave up the puck too much and wings took advantage of some puck luck as well. How can you forget Reimer? Great job by him, it’s not easy not playing a month and going up against his former team. Patrick Kane out sucks, but this team rallied a win without him is huge in its own. This team showcased once again that they can compete against tough top opponents and get an important 2pts yet again for a 5-0-1 January and currently sit in the top Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference with 49pts and only 1pt behind Toronto for 3rd in the Atlantic

Raymond: 3×6.5m
Seider: 8×8.25m
DONE DEAL! No deal on either of those goalies, soory Matt!
Yeah, eventually you gotta lock these guys up before they start going off on heaters. Now that Kane's out, this is a perfect opportunity for Raymond to showcase he can make $7mil+ on his next deal. But yall are right, Raymond and Seider probably arent thinking about their contracts, and thats a good thing! they should be focusing on making the playoffs and playoffs ONLY!!!
GO LIONS! GO MAIZE AND BLUE! GO RED WINGS! DETROIT SPORTS ARE BACK BABYYY!!!
I think the wings have been fortunate enough to be playing teams that are a little off on their play right now. I believe Florida has lost their last 2 games, so we’ll see how we do against them.
