  1. How can you possibly think 1 person on any team can take them to the stanely cup and put such a weight on one man's shoulders. Team sucess requires a team ! Gretzky was the greatest NHL player ever, yet he only won 4 cups.
John Tavarez got paid what he was worth at the time and a point a game is pretty consistent. Look at the last 55 years in Toronto and all the hall of famers that went through without winning a cup – how many differnt coaches, GM`s have been here and still no cup.

  2. No individual awards. Islanders got better when he left. Never considered the best player in the league. It’s not the Hall of Very Good. He needs a Cup

  3. If he retired today he wouldn't be inducted, but Tavares still has another 5 years in him. By the time he's done he'll probably have around 1300 points. More than enough for the HOF

  4. funny how the experts on this panel one was a goon and the other is a career minor leaguer and the other well…

  5. John Tavars's legacy will be, "the $10 million dollar geriatric that cost this young and talented group of Leaf's an opportunity to ever win a Stanley Cup." End of story.

  6. Its not the nhl hall of fame its the hockey hall of fame. Plenty in it who never played a game in the nhl. Tavares has won at the international level

  7. What legacy? Getting stomped in the first round basically every year? Zero hardware, as a team or individually. Definitely hall of fame of worthy. 😆

  8. I just don’t see him getting in unless there the flip side to this conversation isn’t about JT but about those before him and waiting to get in and those up and coming that are better than him and get in before him. Does that kick the proverbial can far enough down the road far enough that he drops of voters radars?

  9. you guys really like to pump up Tavares tires on this show .Legend ??? not until he has playoff seccess .It is that $11M contract that is preventing this team from contending for a Stanley Cup .Point a game player ? only because he is playing with 3 superstars and gets a ton of PP time .All he has to do is go to the net and either Austin ,Mitch or WIllie will get him the puck lol.If you put Kyper in his prime with these 3 guys even he would prob be a point a game guy ( sorry Kyper no offence lol ) My opinion -I cant wait until his $11M is off the books
