Treliving sacrificed defense (especially among the forwards) to get better offensively and while they are maybe slightly better offensively this season they are way worse defensively. I don’t think such a huge drop season over season in defensive play can be laid entirely on coaching, it’s personnel and it was also something noted in the offseason by observers. I was personally concerned that they got worse defensively and that if there was any regression in net that it would be a bad time.

IMO, we should be calling this “The Sheldon Watch”
3 of 12 possible points earned to date, that’s 25%. Just awful.
We’ve now been passed by TB for divisional playoff seeding and are in WC1. That bulge of games we had in hand is gone as well. #fireKeefe
Did no one watch the game last night? I honestly thought we outplayed them. Our special teams were not good but the glaring problem is our goaltending. We’ve lost so many games we should’ve won because we let in so many goals with shaky goaltending.
Everyone is screaming fire Keefe like that means something but we need Woll back (who to be fair is still a kid and really untested) or we need to make a move and grab a goaltender.
Treliving built this team to be a 3 line team with an energy 4th line. That’s why he demanded Keefe try Nylander at 3C in preseason. Can we give it a try for more than 1 game instead of going with what we know doesn’t work?

Save me the “Nylander on the 3rd line???”. This team should be running their top 3 lines based on whichever lines are doing best that night. Give these guys something to play for every shift. No bullshit like the 3rd line plays great and doesn’t see the ice the last 10 minutes of the game. Your top guys will still be at or above 20 minutes because of PP/PK/End of game scenarios. It also allows guys like Domi/Robertson/Knies/Holmberg/Bert to play with a superstar level player which raises their level. There is only so much puck to go around so putting all your stars on 2 lines while your bottom 6 gets shit pumped every night is idiotic. Give Kampf some familiarity in Jarnkrok as well because that 4th line is dogshit.
I always knew that rushing into that Tavares contract would bite us in the ass and look at where we’re at.
We had just taken the Capitals to 6 games when we weren’t even supposed to be in the running with Matthews, Marner, Nylander and Hyman as rookies. We should’ve let that roster cook, but instead we HAD to get Tavares apparently and push the timeline forward. It stinks felt like a Brian Burke “rebuilding in 3 years”.
