  1. As an Isles fan, Inthink our hype is an amalgamation of Roy being hired and Lambert being fired. Based on the presser it sounds like this was in the works as far back as early December where Roy commented on “accidentally coming across the Isles/Kings game where he noted Mayfield defending Barzal. Will this work? Hope so, but at least there’s more hope than we had with Lane.

  2. This Habs fanboy absolutely appreciates your choice of filming with the Suzuki figure over your shoulder as you film this particular piece of news.
    Nice nod 👌🏾

  3. In a 3-month span where CM Punk returned to WWE, Shohei Ohtani almost became a Blue Jay, and the Lions won their first NFL playoff game since I was a toddler, THIS is the hardest headline to believe.

  4. Lambert’s team kept blowing leads that lead to just losing in extra time

He should have been fired one game in, dude was just Barry Trotz but bad

And I love how Patrick Roy’s first game on the road is in…. Montreal.

  5. Typical view on the GOAT discussion – wasn't there a goaltender from Europe named "Hasek"? Ir a guy from Sweden?? What was his name? Do you remember?
I'm every day happy seeing you you alive and not fallen down by a heart attack. Stay safe and continue with your enthusiasm! Cheers

  6. I remember when Roy coached the Ramparts. His team came to play the Rocket (Ironically for this discussion they are now known as the islanders) very recent after his retiring and during intermission all the kids ran down to the dressing rooms. Roy came out and signed our graphs for the kids. He didn’t look like he wanted to be doing that mid game but he did for the kids. Still got the stub autographed somewhere.

  7. The thing with Roy leaving Colorado, is that he was not only head coach, but vice president of hockey ops. He didn't see eye to eye with Sakic and hence quit.

  8. I think it has more of a upside, questions on if this makes them a playoff team, today. But in 3 yr window, he'll probably have the players to adopt his system and the one that don't move on out. As an Avs fan he done wonder with such a young team, but I think there was more then him quitting, he wanted more control on certain trades to make the team better, but Sakic already had a system in place. And he was mindful of the assets he wanted to keep

  9. Unless one is in need of the money (super unlikely Roy is in that position) I cannot understand why, for the life of me one would take a job coaching for Lou.

  10. I honesty no idea what Lous aim is if its a short-term fix he will probably get them into the playoffs but im not convinced in him as a coach in the longterm. The only job hes been able to get since quiting is from a team he is the owner of. I dont look at the isles roster & think it should be higher then where they are they dont really have a goalscorer and are pretty aging team when the league is getting younger. If Roy was comming into a coaching job to coach an inexperienced squad id get it cos what hes done in junior showing he can work with younger players. This is going to go 1 of 2 ways in the short-term either they win a lot or fall off the cliff.

  11. The amount of content that will be created with Lou and Pat Roy is going to be immense! Only a matter of time before there are fireworks.

  12. Life long Avs and Roy fan, he's the reason I started cheering for the Avs as a 6 year old kid, after the Roy trade.

This feels wrong, I feel dirty thinking about this, but on the flip side I hope Roy does well in NY, and sticks around the league as long as possible, the NHL needs him and his character, the League feels so dull without him.

  13. Patrick Roy is an asshole.

This can serve you well as a goalie. It won't help as a coach. You can scare the crap out of a junior player. Harder to do the same to an NHL player.

  14. I think its a great hire but time will tell. I could him making a difference for the Islanders, and strangely enough getting on well with Lou.

  15. I know what you will get….Roy has a childs control. Forbid you get to a Game 7 , thats a loss by at least 3 goals with him on the bench. On the ice, 6 or more. Roy wanted Radulov RADULOV thats why Roy left, and Sakic stayed . Worked out well for Colorado.

  16. That's a pretty crappy thing to do to quit your team right before the season starts. I'm surprised he got another job when he did something as unprofessional as that.

  17. As an Isles fan this: Lambert had to go. Too many points left on the table. Losing badly to the Blackhawks and Sharks…I'm not particularly excited about Roy at the helm, but then again, I'm an older f
