Will Perry help the Oilers or will he be a disruption?

Gino Reda discusses reports on Corey Perry joining the Oilers for the remainder of the season after his contract was terminated by the Blackhawks in late November. Perry won the Stanley Cup with the Ducks in 2007 and has gone to three straight Stanley Cup finals with the Canadiens, Stars, and Lightning.

  1. Risky move… cheap experienced depth but at the cost of possibly bringing in a cancer in the locker room when your team is peaking. I wouldn't touch a thing if we're Ken Holland.

  2. This is a brilliant move. The Oilers don't have enough grit. Why do journos always play the silly "will he be a disruption" game. Boring.

  3. Good on Ken Holland for ignoring the media. Boys in the room should have a good chuckle too. This team's now on par with the Canucks.

  4. As of right now 18.35 hrs MST there is no mention on the official Oiler website re Perry. Until there is I see no reason for all this hype about CP joining the Oilers. Purely clickbate IMHO.

  5. Performance bonuses based on PERFORMANCE, image that ! Leafs should have thought a little about that philosophy before winning just one round with the ‘core four’. I’m pulling for either the Canucks or Jets. Thirsting for a cup in Canada since the Habs did it 30 YEARS AGO, YIKES !

  6. Now let’s talk about hockey and Corey Perry and see how he’s doing instead of keep talking about Conor Badard and the way he puts tape on his stick lmao 😂

  7. Ken Holland has a history of taking on players with a troubled past. IE. Darren McCarty, Evander Kane, and now apparently Corey Perry. Let’s hope for the best!

  8. Happy for Perry will play for the Oilers. His a proven veteran, I expect all of Edmonton to be very Happy over this Signing.

  9. I could not stand the oilers for getting Keith for “intangibles” but they have finally done it in the correct way. You need those guys to win and getting one you won’t rely on to play big minutes like how we did with Keith and for 1 year at league min, can’t go wrong with that

  10. They're winning the cup. He will be helpful. What a pickup by Edmonton. If Evander Kane can play on the team and it worked out well, so can Perry

  11. Imagine having to play against Perry and Kane on the same line 😮great signing

  12. He’s been that player that oilers fans have hated to play against for years. I think he will help
Add that little bit of grit and some scoring to the bottom 6 and possibly opens up some other options for holland to address other needs.
