Winning the press conference counts for nothing.

The Hall-of-Fame goaltender, who last coached in the NHL in 2016, ran the gamut in talking about what it means for him to coach the Islanders, citing the Dynasty teams that won the franchise four championships.

  1. I'm a Flyers fan, but I'm a hockey fan completely, and hiring Patrick Roy is very good for hockey. Best of luck to the Islanders.

  2. Love my boy Roy, hell of goalie, and will be a great coach, my idol growing up and I wish him the best of luck, wish my Habs would have hired him, but MSL is going to be fine too

  3. lane lambert was a real nice guy but he just didnt have the personality to be a leader or coach. He turned a awesome defense under barry trotz to a total farce That tells you it was his x and o's and systematic apprach that was also a problem. Roy can motivate anybody he is very detail oriented. This is a GREAT GREAT hire.

  4. This is the hire that Toronto needed to make.

Everything Roy said in this presser is exactly what the Leafs are sorely lacking and things that Keefe will never try to bring to the club.

  5. Lou was basically the only way that beard was going to be shaved! Patrick did an amazing job with the Remparts and clearly was ready to make the jump back to the NHL.

  6. i am glad that he s in New York and not Montreal …. he;s NUT a CASE . The clock starts now on his being fired
the players will quickly turn the SCREAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER OFF . NHL layers will be not be screaaaaaaamed at by a wacko ….. GREAT PLAYER BUT AS A PERSON HE IS wack job NARCICIST … IF THEY WIN … IT WILL BECAUSE OF HM … IF TGHEY LOSE … IT WILL BE BECAUSE OF THEM …. GETTIG TROUGH ONE YEAR WILL BE AN ACHIEVEMENT …. LOUIE GOT CAPTURED BY THE BODY SNATCHERS … THIS IS INSANE

  7. Patrick Roy is a great coach. I'm glad he is back in the NHL. Islanders will be my second team.

  8. Pathetic Toronto wouldn't hire this guy but the leafs like being mid..core 5 wouldn't sign off I guess they run the show.

  9. The man is a narcissist and it's only a matter of time before this blows up just like he imploded in Colorado. There is no cure for narcissism.

  10. Congrats Patrick. I still remember that Game that had you vs Chris Osgoode as the main ticket. You are Mr. Hockey personified.

  11. I loved Patrick Roy growing up as a kid. Being in Vancouver, him and the Avs had our number all the time. He was one of those guys that I could cheer for even when he wasn't on my favourite team. He was just that good and I loved that he didn't mind dropping the gloves. He was a bit nutty and that's probably what made him so good.
