  1. Weird. I seem to recall Tanev falling into the boards all on his own.

  2. CamThompson

One of those “kind of fine in a vacuum” fines that make absolutely no sense when you realize how many things get absolutely no supplemental discipline whatsoever.

Even between officiating and DoPS there is wild disagreement in terms of severity/dangerousness of actions. McMann gets 5 and a game for his hit against Anaheim but no supplemental, Timmins gets 2 against Seattle but receives a fine. Which is worse, league?

  3. TorontoIndieFan

I thought the just was chicken shit so I don’t dislike the fine.

  4. keeeeener

How are you guys possibly complaining about this. It was an awful play and exactly the type of needless “hit” the league doesn’t want.

  5. Totes_mc0tes

It’s fair but I’d like to see it go the other way occassionally. Can’t remember the last time an opponent of the Leafs got fined or suspended for an infraction against the Leafs. It’s not like there’s been a shortage of dangerous plays to choose from.

Fuck George Parros. Best sport worst league.

  6. DrinkMoreBrews

That’s impossible, Tanev fell into the boards on his own!

  7. anthonyd3ca

I swear this happens in literally every hockey game and only *sometimes* it even gets called as a penalty, never mind a fine. Not sure why this one is any different than the others.

  8. Well deserved. That was a needless push in a dangerous area of the ice. Taney had all the reason in the world to be as heated as he got.

  9. hockeyfan2000

Really got their shit together after calling no fines against the Canucks Saturday. Player safety is a joke in this league.

  10. What was Tyler Meyer’s fine for cross checking Mo?

  11. LostBeneathMySkin

Good thing these fines are an absolute joke amount so we don’t realllly have to worry about them. George Parros is clearly pretty biased though eh not sure how he can hold a job in a position like that but whatever. Corrupt ass league.

  12. jimmymeeko

Ok good job, George. I won’t argue with this one. It’s a dangerous play and it’s right to be punished.

Now enforce this standard across the entire league. And yes, George, that includes the opponents of the Leafs.

As usual: I have no problem with hits like this being taken out of the game, it’s an unnecessary play and Timmins, of all people, should know how much someone’s career can be derailed by injuries.

Now do Myers nearly sending Rielly face first into a metal post, you cowards.

  14. clumsyguy

Dangerous plays should be punished, but I will never take this stuff seriously if the let people like Marchand get away with his can opener on Lilijgren earlier this year or Bennett concussing Knies like he was in the WWE last year. We could go on about awful, uncalled, unpenalized, and undisciplined plays against the Leafs.

  15. VolumeNo5217

It was a dangerous play, however how is this addressed but the Manson cross check on Matthews from last week, not a peep. There is NO consistency. I have no idea how Parros is still employed.

  16. It’s a fair punishment, but also shows the complete lack of consistency with these punishments. DoPS (and reffing for that matter) is a total clown show.

  17. Vote_Tanner

Remember that Marchand can-opener on Liljegren … which he openly taunted/boasted about on the ice, in front of refs, witnesses and millions of viewers … but yeah, ok NHL, this particular cross-check is where one should make a statement. Sure.

  18. WintersbaneGDX

I’m assuming that’s a Canadian dollar equivalent of a US figure because it’s so bizarrely specific.

  19. dreamsdrop

Ok now do the Matthews and Rielly crosscheck oh wait

  20. Mattewsmustache34

The Manson cross-check is not even half as bad as this one. You ppl gotta take the Homer glasses off.

  21. ButtStuckInElevator

Literally THE weakest cross check of all time. Buddy was already falling when Timmins tapped his back. That moustache-having goof in the “player safety” room can get fucked honestly.

  22. Is Timmins even making that kind of money to pay that bill?

  23. So_Long_DentalPlan

Parros still mad about doing a header off the ice in Toronto

  24. Eventually NHL will become a non-contact league with this shenanigan way of enforcement. Maybe the only incidence the board would allow is “bitch slapping” your opponent.

  25. dynozombie

It’s fair, but much worse gets nothing very often from other teams so
