I do believe that most, if not all of those players will be NHL mainstays, but I'm not convinced that all will reach their full potential and be impact players.

Of course not all the prospects will pan out… but! With enough "if he becomes" one of them will pan out… to me that's where the strength of the d pool is… if it's not Hudson, then reindbacher, if not than mailloux if not than Barron if not then the Russian kid I always forget Bogdan…
The problem with Brian Wilde is that he often lacks judgment and consistency with his opinions. He suggested trading Beck and Mesar less than a year after drafting them. He says this and that and he contradicts himself.
Like Marty St-Louis says, progress is not linear. But that's not only true of a given roster, the roster itself evolves non-linearly. For now, Hughes may be content to just let the players develop, where ever they are playing at the moment, but there will be a time soon when he'll start trading away some prospects and some draft picks for players that can have an impact now. So, it is a perfectly valid scenario that all these young players end up having an impactful presence in the NHL but never actually play for the Canadiens. Predicting the roster 2 years down the line based on today's players is essentially futile. Look how few players are left from the 2021 stanley cup final. I think that 2 years down the line, Montreal will have the assets to be competitive, but these assets may be completely different from those that are currently on the team. And if they don't, then we'll have another GM change.
They better hope and pray that Matvei Michkov does not pan out.
If he does pan out and become a superstar they passed on that scorer they needed and blew it.
At 19 years old he is almost a point a game in the KHL playing against men, 45 total points in 49 games is not impossible for him.
I thought the Habs would make the playoffs this season before the season started. That was before the Habs lost Dach in the second game of the season and Newhook 23 games in. So saying the Habs will be better in 2 seasons isn't crazy. The Have are so young that 2 more seasons under their belt will make a big difference. If everyone stays relatively and they can land another 35 goal scorer, I can totally see them being in the top 10 teams in the league. That's only top 1/3. Top 3 is a different story.
