  1. If Tarasenko wants to stay we should definitely try to keep him. We can't overpay, but we should offer him something fair as he's exactly what we need: maturity/experience, grit, skill and good in the room. Stop trading all our valuable players.

  2. If he wants 5.5-6M per for 3 years, I'd re-sign him. I think this team really needs to think about Norris, Chabot or Chychrun. They also need to see what Giroux wants. If he also wants to be extended, they also have to think about Batherson. You can love these guys and appreciate the skill, but all you need to do is look at the standings to see the reality. Free up a good amount of cap space, get good assets for the trades, and fix what is needed. Hamonic is a sure bet to trade him, but if Grieg is the fit for the top line, you got 8M and 5M contracts for what? Third and fourth lines? The left side has to stay Tkachuk and Joseph. If they trade Taraeenko, what do you give up in draft picks and prospects for a top 6 RW when we already have it and save the picks and prospects. We don't have top guys in the system, but this team doesn't need it. They need good depth, and there is good depth in the system still.

  3. If Tarasenko wants to stay and a deal that makes sense for both sides can be reached, you gotta keep him. That third line (if they can keep it together) REALLY played well on Sunday. If he tells you he's not going to re-sign, you auction him off to the higest bidder.

  4. Who sees a major blockbuster trade in the making:

    To Ottawa:

Jake Guentzel ( If he signs an extension)
Erik Karlsson (2.5M retained by Pittsburgh)

    To Pittsburgh:
    Josh Norris
    Jakob Chychrun
    2024 2nd round pick

I dunno how else to mix it, bit does this trade make sense? Do you possibly add a third team in the mix to retain more of EK's contract at a cost so you can re-sign Tarasenko?

Think about what that top 6 would look like?

    Tkachuk-Grieg-Giroux
    Guentzel-Stutzle-Tarasenko

Then possibly trade Batherson in a deal with Philly and get Garnet Hathaway( package, not 1 for 1) Now your third line looks like:

    Joseph-Pinto-Hathaway

That line saves another what? Nearly 2M? Enough to re-sign Pinto long term.

Add EK to the defense and we are set.

  5. I think the team should wait until the deadline to move him unless an insane trade offer comes in. If this team decides to turn a corner and start winning, get above .500 around the deadline, I think the team considers keeping him. But if the team is clearly out around the deadline, I tell him its his choice (obviously with NTC) if he wants to stay or go but if he is traded, the Sens WILL offer him a contract in the off season because I think he is the perfect character guy in the locker room the team needs, has skill and has also won.

  6. Tarasenko -Ask him to waive his no move clause, get something for him AFTER you talk to him about coming back as a free agent for a 3 year contract in the summer. Win win. Obviously he can't sign it until July but get an agreement in principle verbally with him. You can't tell the other teams though beforehand.
