  1. Watching him play in Hartford when I was a little kid, despite him bitching and complaining about playing in Hartford.

  2. Watching him ruin the Maple Leafs franchise for the next while, that’s my favourite. Screw the Leafs.

  3. backbeat7593

Watching him hoist the cup 3 times as a Detroit Red Wing.

  4. DamnitBlueWasOld

Watching him and Patrick Roy colliding at center ice.

I also lucked out being at the game where he scored a hatty on St Patrick’s Day and the music guy played the Irish jig to honor it.

    Intercepting Patrick Roy, absolutely this.

  6. King_Kill

Has to be the playoffs where he told the female fan to shave her armpits…one of the all time funniest hockey moments

  7. Comfortable-Bowl9591

Watching him score to put the NYR 5-0, only to lose 6-5. 😆

  8. daryl3161

The Big Brawl against Colorado in ’97. He kicked ass that day.

  9. DailyChiefer

The mid air collision between him and Roy for sure

  10. I’m not sure if it was in a shootout, penalty shot, or just a breakaway, but he was alone and opted for a massive slapshot at point blank that nobody predicted, including the goalie. It was funny.

  11. He was an auto one punch in one of the old chels and that’s my favorite memories as a kid

  12. mudamuckinjedi

I would say a hard as nails player like him who rarely backed down from a fight being named the head of player safety. Lol

I was at the game bottom left when he fought Brashear. I already liked him from his days in Detroit, he was an absolute beast of a competitor and proved it [that game](https://youtu.be/mnclp_ckpFE?si=ROZLXJ9cRqThUe_K). Dec 30th 2006

Was also the first time I saw Semin and was most impressed by him, speed and shot were next level. Ovechkin was great but in that game he spent a lot of time jumping D zone early or just floating lol.

Edit – was visiting NY for holidays from non NHL team CDN city. Saw only a couple “live” games a year, if lucky.

  14. Forgot he played in NYR lol.

The moment in the penalty box in the 98 finals when he dealt with a female heckler by telling her to shave her armpits 🤣

  15. saucytopcheddar

Watching him be the first person to celebrate with Sakic after Canada went up 5-2 against the USA in the 2002 gold medal game… the game was over at that point and everyone knew it.

  16. VancouverSativa

Breaking his ankle, then skating off the ice and going over the boards.

  17. The failure of the “Shanaplan” would be mine…

  18. Fantastic_Board7057

Probably when he didn’t make the local team after tryouts so he pursued golf and beat shooter mcgavin for the gold jacket

  19. Hasn’t happened yet. It’ll be when he’s fired by mlse

  20. Odd-Valuable1370

I was there for the home opener when he was introduced as a Red Wing. Winning 3 Stanley Cups was huge, but it all started there and is seared into my memory.

  21. I’d just like to remind everyone he and Federov were on opposite sides of the Punch Up in Piestany and yet they would end up excellent team mates in their careers. That as a whole is my favourite part of Brendan Shanahan.

  22. SweetWithHeat

The playing hockey part cuz he’s a sub par president

  23. TheRudeRune

When we got Scott Steven’s for him and proceeded to win 3 Stanley Cups

  24. bigbigjohnson

I dunno he seems like a pompous ass so I guess when he eventually gets fired from the Leafs.

  25. CarefulSubstance3913

That time he brought the cup to Toronto with his shanaplan….

  26. mrfunderhill

Waiting for his joke calls when he ran DoPS. What a tit.

  27. For me it’s the Donald Brashear fight when he stood up for Ryan Hollweg. It’s definitely not nearly as iconic as colliding with Roy, but I remember watching the Brashear fight live and never appreciated someone standing up for a teammate more.
