You seriously can’t even make this up

It’s no secret, the Pittsburgh Penguins have struggled on the powerplay all year. But tonight, as the Penguins rolled into Mullet Arena to face-off against the Arizona Coyotes, this was a game they desperately needed the points in. Yet some how, they reached a new low with a goal you just can’t even make up. On a delayed penalty against Arizona, Pittsburgh intentionally killed time bringing the puck into their own end before Kris Letang passed it to Evgeni Malkin and proceeded to score on themselves in a terrible blunder. While Sidney Crosby scored his 577th goal to tie Mark Recchi for 21st all time, this was a game to forget! I cover it all in todays NHL hockey video!

  1. This is the first time in NHL history that a team has recorded a PPG without recording a single PP shot on goal.. make it make sense.

  2. This is why we love hockey. What other sport/league could a totally innocuous play turn into a score. UNBELIEVABLE!!

  3. Ryan O’Bryrn did that with the habs way back but he actually shot the puck from his bench into his own goal😂😂😂

  4. does anyone make more terrible passes and turnovers than letang? he has to have the highest turnover rate in the nhl.

  5. As a Pens fan, I was laughing in my seat when that goal happened. The message that the rebuild should have started years ago. The battle for 4th in the Metro is insane, the Pens are 7th and can jump to 4th if they win two games (which probably won’t happen).

  6. That own goal is mostly on Letang, and only partly on Malkin. He passed the puck towards his own net without looking and put it a couple feet behind his teammate instead of putting it in front of his teammate. But most importantly, he passed the puck towards his own goal when there was no goalie. That's gotta be at least 80% on Letang.

  7. Its not that the Pens or Malkin and Letang specifically are too old. Its that they seemingly refuse to acknowledge that fact. They're still trying to play like its 2013. Especially on the PP

  8. People blaming Letang for the own goal is kinda weird. It’s a delayed penalty. If Malkin doesn’t touch the puck it goes wide of the net. If Malkin lets it go then the Yotes touch up and we kill time. The own goal is on Malkin, not Letang.

  9. Man being a Pens fan this has been a frustrating season. They have all the tools to be much better than they are. It seems the hockey gods really hate them.

  10. I have been screaming for Sullivan's removal as head coach for years. And Letang really is stupid with the puck sometimes, more giveaways than anyone in history I think but he really undid himself with that idiotic pass to Malkin. The team was so filled with so much hope, getting Karlsson and so forth but even if they make the post season, forget making any real impact, probably get knocked out the first round, AGAIN.

  11. Sully is doing a fine job, but we're the exact same team as last season. We need a drastic identity change, and that can't happen without a coaching change

  12. Not a power play, but I remember the Caps scored on themselves on a delayed penalty last year against the Wild. Marcus Foligno got credited with the goal despite not having touched the puck for like 20 seconds

  13. The clown show from pittsburgh. But honestly who cares? I am worried about my own paycheck. Stay healthy and get paid boys.
