  1. Can’t wait for the “Habs will not get a first for Monahan” comments. Yes we will and that’s a 100% certainty.

  2. Monahan is good enough. Good size, veteran, wins face-offs. But his 11 goals and 31 points in 48 games this year is very similar to his second last season in Calgary 10 goals and 28 points in 50 games. He's not the player he was even now. He's never looking like he did back in 2018/19.
Fits in Colorado where they need center help.

  3. Monahan was good when he had Gaudreau and Tkachuk on his wings. But, to paraphrase Glen Sather, "so would a fire hydrant".

  4. I would rather see a pinto or frost over these big contract players. They are younger with upside and won't clean out our cupboards!

  5. The fact that the Habs are likely going to get TWO first round picks for taking Monahan for free is hilarious. Not to mention that Calgary is on the decline and the pick the Habs own next year from them could be top 10.

  6. I don't follow the Canucks at all but looking over the roster it is pretty good and full of PLUS players pretty much AL of them.Monahan is a proven 60-65 point player and imo if he got out of MTL he would be able to easily match that.
Looking over the Van roster it appears they need a left winger and Monahan could maybe play LW if need be.The only thing I would be careful of is making trades just for the sake of making a trade .If they move even one player around it changes multiple line combinations and that can disrupt the team.
If I was running the Canucks the only thing I would do is give the lesser players more ice time and rest the better players a bit more so they are not all burnt out come playoff time.
There is definitely a huge difference from th Canucks two top salaries both around 8 mil compared to the Habs giving Cole and Nick 8 mil. There lies the problem and the Canucks do not have any cap space so any trade will have to work with salaries making a trade very difficult to pull off.

  7. Looking over the salaries it looks like Vancouver has a 2yr window which is all any team really has because after that this roster wil be vastly different imo Vancouver will be in trouble and lose several players. However the goal is the Stanley Cup and right now the yare following the Vegas formula of having a team full of plus players which gives them a legit chance at the cup.
IDK if the Canucks have much in th eprospect pool to fit in maybe one rookie over the next 2 yr window but I would just stay the course and hope with a bit of luck Canaucks fans can see a cup this year or next.

  8. If Monahan was worth as much as Habs fans want back for him why would you move him in the first place? This just reeks of artificial inflation the same way Joel (worth a 1st Rd. pick) Edmundson did last year. I hope for Habs fans sake they can trick somebody into an overpay.

  9. I agree, I dont see him being that “peice” that helps us push through a tough series. This is the year, get someone who can be a high impact player, that being said don’t ruin the next decade over it.

  10. I don't think he makes us better. And his value to me is not much. And we would basically pay out the nose for him. These guys are to smart to pick him up. And if he moves the bar it would not be much. My question is who thinks he is worth picking up. Sounds like a media based trade. Not a real one. 100% rumor.

  11. Everyone saying that teams would be crazy to give up a 1st for Monahan have simply not watched any Habs games this year. There’s been far worse players traded for much more.
I’d be flabbergasted if he went for anything LESS than a 1st
