What a great initiative by the mods to create this space where us fans can hang out despite there not being a game tonight!
Can’t wait to see my Habs play!

  2. Habs are now 4-8-2 since the Christmas break, allowing over 4 goals per game in that stretch, this team just cannot play defence

Caufield played great tonight, good to see him continue his great play, that’s about the only bright spot of the night

  3. fortytwoanswers

Absolutely brutal 1st and 2nd periods. We had our fun this season but I think it’s time to consider losses with Suzuki/Caufield points as wins. This team is an effective Dach/Newhook/Hutson/Reinbacher and one of Lindstrom/Eiserman/Demidov, at minimum, before we’ll compete let alone contend. This season is meaningless so one last very high pick would be fantastic.

  4. ive had it with this peewee coach. HuGO should be looking at replacements for him asap. he’s not nhl calibre

This rebuild is currently on a downward trajectory

  5. Beefiest_bison

We’re out here single-handedly jumpstarting the Senators season. Line changes at least seemed to provide in a pulse in the 3rd.

  6. imhere8888

Dach and Newhook can’t be the only reason we’re so empty and bad

Injuries happen you have to have more than that

    We need offense bad

Need trades for offensive talent AND nothing but offensive talented draft picks for the next 3 years

  7. douce_abeille

That was bad. A few moments in the third but those poweplays made me cringe. Against the fucking sens pk…. like cmon. I was waiting for a jump in them after the last 2 games, some fight in their play, some energy but nothing. Losing against a young sens team with a lot of talent is ‘’okay’’ I guess but looking so dead isn’t.

We’re in a rebuild, it is normal to suck they were predicted to suck more, but my god this team needs talent so bad. We got Hutson coming but that raw talent is missing. Can’t wait for the draft.

Anyway, if this prevents the sens from having a shot on celebrini, there’s that. Their yearly too late push for the playoffs when it doesn’t matter anymore is starting yeah!

  8. I’m confident Suzuki will become a top 2-way center in the league, and Caufield a 30-40 goal scorer, but none of the other players on this roster instill much confidence that even if everyone hits their projections that this team won’t be anything more than a wild card team at best.

  9. Evans and Caufield are the only two who came to play. Hate the 3 goalie rotation and then going with 3C.

  10. climbingtime

Just when you think the team will come out with some jump after a few rough games… this happens.

We need to start talking about the the front Office setting this team up for any kind of success by icing a structured lineup. I cant wait for this three goalie rotation bullshit to end. What was this roster tonight with 3C? Get it together.

  11. Everyone is saying that the problem is defence but there was no goal by a forward tonight and a lot of bad passes by them.

  12. MaxTheWhite

Are people even excited if we got a good pick anyway ? I mean even tanking is not so much fun since we had lucky first pick overall and good pick recently and it give us nothing.

  13. philjitsu

It’s -45 here and my power went out for over half the game. The bright spot of this game was it came back on when we scored and I only saw how the Habs were playing in the last 6 minutes.

On the bright side I have power again for now

  14. backwardzhatz

Running 3 centres and then shortening the bench is just not a good plan to me. On top of this three goalie rotation I’m gonna cry if we can’t get our lineup at least somewhat solidified by next year

  15. ukrainianhab

    *BAD*

    – You guys watched the game 🙁

    *GOOD*

    – I didn’t watch the game due another commitment 🙂

  16. OnlineEgg

benching pezz and only having 3C made this team look sluggish, on to the next!

  17. Beefiest_bison

All 3 of our centers played over 20 minutes tonight, this shit is dumb as hell lol.

Just send Roy/Ylonen down so we don’t work our guys to death and potentially injure our one big deadline piece.

  18. Sure, three bad games in a row. We were seen as a bottom 2, bottom 3 team before the season. It’s normal to suck, we’re not a good hockey team.

I mean fuck, as a rebuilding team, it’s more normal to have three games like this than the three games against EDM/COL/NJD.

MSL is still learning on the job and we’re to the point where he needs to learn about tough love. Sit someone, bench someone, closed door meeting, fucking break a couple sticks I don’t know.

  19. Snow-Wraith

We lost to a team that isn’t even real. This is more embarrassing than giving up 9 to the Bruins. When does the tanking embarrassment stop? Or are we the new Sabres?

  20. We’ve definitely entered a bit of a skid right now. Which, big picture, isn’t per se a bad thing, it should quash any impulse that might have existed among management not to sell aggressively at the deadline (not that I really think they were contemplating otherwise).

Not sure we can realistically go lower than 6th-last in the standings, but if we keep feeding Ottawa points like this, who knows?

  21. Time for the decision makers to grow some nuts and waive, trade or send down our surplus of wingers and defenders. It’s unacceptable to run 3 centres.

  22. WintertimeLivingEasy

now it’s a great time to move Monahan, and tank for real this time.

This team need a game changer, Dach is good, but he’s not that.

  23. Comfortable-Bowl9591

I expected the Habs to play the 1st period like they did in the third.

  24. IcyChard4

Guess what’s the bright side of this loss…

at least they won’t go home silent, not saying a single word.

They’ll go quiet in their locker room and get out the building, getting ready for the next game.

  25. musikalitee

Literally had more “fun” at my waxing appointment earlier this evening than I had watching this godawful game

  26. DrMichaelHufuhruhurr

on the positive side, I found a doobie in my pocket tonight that I had forgotten about.

    pretty cool

  27. jadenspan

Matheson is fucking terrible, I also don’t think I’ve seen a player have a worse game this season than Gallagher tonight.

  28. astonedgecko

The Leafs had a 3 game losing skid by giving up a multi goal lead in every game

Not sure why everyone is jumping to terrible conclusions because a rebuilding team is on a 3 game losing streak after a 2 game win streak featuring a dub against the Avs

  29. Smirnoffico

Just a thought. We could have had a defence line of Sergachev-Hughes

  30. BigUser3003

For how many years are we rebuilding? When are we gonna start being good ? 2027 ?? Genuinely asking, kinda new to hockey. How long is a rebuild ?

  31. Saw the highlights.

Glad I didn’t watch the game.

Now to prepare for numero trente-trois to come back to the city.

  32. Racines_II

Back from Bell Center with a few comments:

    -Allen was horrible
    – Gallagher on first pp line seems absurd

They did play well early 3rd period but 2 terrible penalties end there hope.

About Gallagher, the poor chap is so slow, it’s now ridiculous. I am sorry to see him like that, but I think they squeezed the last once of hockey in him years ago

  33. dadoudelidou

Ok, took some time to write this off, i needed to get a beer or two after exiting Place Bell, it was ROUGH.

Let’s just focus on the positive first.

Roy : man that guy is SMART. Every shift he’s well positionned ( right behing Mony on entry zones than he shifts in the slot to offer options.) Can’t wait to see how he will blossom. MSL seems to slowly giving more responsabilities, he was still on the ice with 3 minutes to go in the 3rd.

Struble: Ghule and him are such a fun duo to watch. It seems their forces work well together and they were my favorite pairing on ice tonight.

Evans : was one of the best forward tonight, lots of forecheck and even hits. He’s not the most talented but tonight HE came to play.

Bad : Gally, Andy were absent. Fan favorite Xhekaj tripped a few times, took a penalty in the 3rd and wasn’t noticible, let’s see how he bounces back. Allen looses is focus so quickly, at this point i’m not sure a contender would pay the slightest for him even if we retain, i truely think the window to trade him is gone.

    Finally: fuck the Sens.

  34. People somehow blaming the 3 centers for this loss probably missed the the other games before when we did have 4 centers.

Also drawing definitive conclusions on certain players after good/bad games like this isn’t the way to go.

This team has been the 7th worst on almost all collective categories since September. They’ve been bottom 5 in regulation wins. They’ve played above their heads and got into OT with teams way better than them.

They got over .500 with big wins vs COL & NJ, the ASG break was coming; so they felt good about themselves and relaxed, because human nature is that way. But they don’t have the talent or cohesion to coast, so they got smacked around.

There’s nothing new or changed here. You got 2/3 of a 1st line, a bunch of mid, inconsistent vets trying to follow the pace, a bunch of inexperienced defensemen trying to learn on the job. Dach/Newhook wouldn’t change the entire complexion of the team. No more than 4 centers or 2 goalies would.

When people talk about markets that might not be able to accept a rebuild, they’re thinking of this phase. When it’s already been a few years and there’s still a few years to go. People underestimate how long it takes to build up piece by piece, and expect too much too soon.

Buckle up, because there’ll be more of these for a while still.
