I can’t imagine Briere will give any specifics about the Hart absence, but the wording he chooses might give some vague insight. If this is something related to a family emergency or a medical condition or general mental health, you’d expect to hear some semblance of sympathy in Briere’s voice. If his responses are as short and emotionless as that press release read yesterday afternoon, it’s going to be hard not to interpret that as the front office making a point to distance themselves from whatever the real issue is.
That wouldn’t automatically mean it’s related to Hockey Canada, there could still be other reasons for the organization to be somewhat cold in their messaging. But it certainly wouldn’t do anything to downplay that speculation.
