  1. I would only say draft a defenseman if it`s a guaranteed franchise 1RD. We don`t know if Barron and Mailloux will ever make it as regulars in the NHL and who knows what popcorn becomes. A second pair RD seems probable. They need fire power up front that's for sure. This team sucks top to bottom and has no business being ahead of Buffalo and Ottawa in the standings.

  2. My concern when they drafted Reinbacher was the excess of Defense prospects listed on the 2024 mock drafts. They could well be in a position where the best player available is a d-man when it's their turn to select. But how could they pass on the Russian Giant if he's available? The pool is overflowing with talented D Prospects, but are any of them true 1st pairing, or top 15 NHL D-Men. The Giant is a potential Zdeno Chara type that would make their first pairing impenetrable.

  3. Don't forget, Montreal has Mailloux, Roy and Reinbacher coming up. Their future is just fine. They'll be the new Blackhawks.

  4. Embarrassing. Haven't seen the Habs play and act this poorly ever. Where's Carbonneau, Gainey, Lemair Lapointe, anyone who shows how they feel by acting it out on the ice. They aren't even allowed to fight. Time for Tocchet, or even Babcock (God forbid.) Time to change to Canadian style hockey.

  5. Trade that useless number 20 for a real good player. He is a wimp who plays with one hand on the stick. No talent

  6. This team has quit, thrown in the towel. I am not confident on draft picks as the only means to an end. Especially given the last 2, Slaf a number one? Come on man you clean that up. And the other popcorn salesman is an un popped kennel. 2 picks 2 duds the worst part is watching the lack of effort from the team and MSl's obvious lack of coaching experience. I am sure the true believers will still be saying Slaf needs more time and MSL is the best thing to ever happen to this team but results speak for themselves.

  7. The recent skid will be good in the long term , lets get the idea of maybe making the playoffs this season out of our heads , keep doing what were doing , trade off vets .

  8. Best player available. If you have 8 top 4 defenders you can eventually trade for forwards.

Habs need to keep being smart with their picks.

I hope the best available when they pick is a forward, but if it’s not: pick a D-man and trade some later.

  9. Keep thinking why oh why I keep cheering for this team. After last night's game, we saw them as comlpete doggers, yes puppy makers on skates.

  10. The habs are exactly where I expected them to be this season. They’re young and too early in the rebuild to expect playoffs. They need more time.

  11. Great vid matt , totally agree bro as per usual. I was real thrilled with last night. Was so disgusted with their effort. However i m prayi ng for the same offensemen as you in this upcoming draft . Great job.

  12. The reality is pretty sad. We haven't drafted a major offensive piece even tho we've been tanking for 2 years. (Arguably 3) We better get going because this rebuild could last 10 years like Buffalo.

  13. I realy hope one day Frodo brings back the ring to Montreal. But I fear Sauron doesnt love canadian teams enough for that to happen.

  14. I watched the Isles vs Stars game (Patty's first as coach) just before last nights game. If you want to see how far away the Habs are from getting better just watch this. Long passes landing cross ice, forechecking, defence that doesn't involve swatting at the puck by swinging their stick one handed. Saw the post game interview and Marty says they are getting there in a short stretch of the third? At some point the gaze should be switching to him and what he is doing or not doing to this team. So as not to be all doom and gloom it's great to see the Sheriff back in town.

  15. I'd also be quite chuffed with Helenius he's got makings of a future Saku Koivu. We did not see much of his offensive talent at the Juniors in that shutdown role but what he does in this very defensive Liiga against arguably the best goalies outside of the NHL and some really tough defensemen is pretty impressive.

  16. We will get a solid player. Would love Lindstrom, Berkley Catton, Zane Parekh or any of the other top dmen.

  17. Our defense prospect may be stacked but nowhere ELITE. Hutson is probably the only Elite dmen we have. They rest are 2nd pairing potential. A forward is need tbh. But if we get a dmen with high upside. Ill take it. We need to be realistic with our defense prospects. All of them are at best 2nd Pairing or lower.

  18. If the habs can't ice a competitive team in the next year or two, will it ever happen?
Keep Stephane Robidas behind the bench to groom the new D kids. But we'll need real goaltending at some point too.

  19. oh just the thought of waiting another year for ONE player that MIGHT work out…….. this isn't for fans of hockey no more…its for fans of the draft!!

  20. I was tired and didn't feel like watching the 3rd.. What is going on with the Habs!? Xhekaj's return didn't go so well…

  21. Really want Lindstrom, But we most likely won’t have a chance at him so I really really hope we draft Catton or Demidov both of those players have first line superstar/elite potential… Silayev is not a surprise to me I have him 3rd overall on my list because in my opinion he’s the next Victor Hedman if you have watched this kid he’s sooooo good at closing on players and gap control, I haven’t seen that in a prospect since Hedman and the only prospect that was close to that is Reinbacher to be honest he’s elite at gap control and closing on players as well… I have Lindstrom 2nd overall on my list, Celebrini First, Levshunov 4th, Demidov 5th, Eiserman 6th….
