These are moves I’d like to see Yzermam try and at least replicate over the course of now and next summer let’s say, we definitely need some work in our defense depth if we want to battle in a 7 game series.
I think as a a GM you have to see what the price tag is on a guy like Chychrun, he would be a great addition to Seider, and the 2nd pairing could look like Walman and Edvinsson. Plus you get him for next season, with a likely extension if the team keeps progressing.

I think it depends where Detroit is in the standings by the trade deadline. I don't think Detroit will be in a buying mode this trade deadline unless Detroit is firmly in the playoffs. Yzerman has already aquired a plethora of free agents and has traded for Alex DeBrincat and Jeff Petry. I really hope Detroit makes the playoffs this season. This is the first year that I have shifted away from tank/rebuild mode for Detroit. It is tempting to think about the return Detroit could get in return for Kane, Sprong, Ghostisbehere, Perron, etc. For me, I'm just hoping Detroit makes the playoffs this year.

It's MUCH too early to tell whether to give up on making the playoffs or not. The schedule looks difficult and you never know about injuries but this question should more properly be asked of the NJ Devils right now, NOT the Detroit Red Wings. Neverthess if they are in the playoff picture and Stevie can acquire a rental or too cheaply, then he'll go for it. He will NOT morgage the future though. There's is a possiblity he makes a real trade though. We all know how he operates by now, he's no great big mystery.
Teams usually don’t add a bunch of players in the offseason and make moves like adding Patrick Kane if they plan on selling at the deadline. If they’re too far out of the playoff race then maybe, but otherwise there’s still cap space and flexibility to make some moves for some help on d or another goalie to help Lyon.
Sell ghost and Perron for sure. Edvinson and burger take those spots.
Extend sprong asap or he’s gotta go, he could legit draw a 1st rounder. Don’t trade Perron if this happens.
I think matta might fetch a 2nd as well.
I personally feel we should do nothing of buying or selling. Unless a major injury (rest of season) then buy.
As far as starting Lyon again, im just concerned that Lalonde is running him into the ground like he admitted he did to Husso last year.
