3 KEY POINTS:
– When you are doing the first drill of the day it doesn’t have to be done with 100% effort. My experience is that especially in North America in lower leagues (juniors and lower) there is often more focus on doing a lot really fast than ”what are we actually doing.” Happens in Finland too.
– When you slow down the speed there is less cheating and more control.
– Most of the people watching this either play or coach below college / pro level. You can break down this drill into 3 sections and focus on that. At first do it slow and increase speed / sharpness when goalie can do it well in slow speed. As a warm up drill, do it with 50-80% speed but 100% focus.
