Arizona Coyotes fall to Florida Panthers and Salt Lake City wants an expansion team

The Arizona Coyotes fell 6-2 to the Florida Panthers, a tough loss to open the three-game road trip out east. Dylan Guenther and Logan Cooley each scored for the Coyotes to avoid getting shut out. Karel Vejmelka allowed six goals on 43 shots and ended the night with a .860 save percentage. In other news, Smith Entertainment Group, owners of the Utah Jazz, asked the NHL to “initiate an expansion process” to bring the team to the state. What does this mean for the Coyotes? And do NHLPA Director Marty Walsh’s recent comments about the Yotes hold any weight?

Leah, Petey and Craig break down the Coyotes’ loss to Florida, discuss the latest arena news, look ahead to the game against Tampa and recap a crazy night involving a fire on this special recap edition of the PHNX Coyotes Podcast!

  1. Someone has to say it: Alex Meurelo and AZ ownership better start communicating with its fan base. I’m sick and tired of these rumors swirling.

  2. They won't leave.
    They can't leave..after 27 years..
I support a team in Salt Lake but it won't be the AZ Coyotes.
Eventually, they will get a deal somewhere in AZ that is not ASU. .
If hockey works in Vegas, where most of Vegas demographic are not hockey folks yet they win the cup and have fans in the stands…
Hockey can work in the desert, getting our boys into the playoffs and winning is what will give fans a reason to fill seats.
I am tired of hearing more fans of the other team in mullet arena when we all know there are enough Coyotes fans in AZ to fill up the Suns arena…
They aren't willing because we haven't had a winning team..
This is a really good young rebuild team I'm enjoying watching them figure it out.
