These NHL Teams Should TRADE For Patrik Laine

A report yesterday from TSNs Darren Dreger regarding Patrik Laine and Ivan Provorov has sparked tons of conversation, here is a list of NHL teams I think would make the most sense to trade for Laine. If you guys enjoy this type of NHL content be sure to subscribe to the channel if you are new!

  1. Just as a heads up, the trade candidates I have listed are not mock trades. Just throwing out some names / picks that I think COULD be included if a trade was to happen.

  2. The fact you didn't put Winnipeg on the list is baffling. Yes he wanted out, but that was mainly because of 2 guys, Wheeler and Maurice (both not on the team anymore) Winnipeg needs help on the powerplay, and he is still good friends with most of the Jets roster (so there won't be a concern with chemistry) They also have 5.4 is projected deadline cap, and the trade pieces for a player of Laine's caliber. His best was in Winnipeg, and we could totally see it again.

  3. If Carolina could find away to get him that could be huge with all the playmakers & talent could definitely see him tuning his career around

  4. As a jets fan I’d love to see Laine back here..never liked the trade for Dubois n the PP could flourish with him pulling the trigger..not sure what Columbus would require but make it happen Chevy..ps wheeler is gone so no bullying

  5. First off the wings have a decent fire power at the moment. Its of course the defence and another quality goalie that we need. If the wings were stable on those two aspects then and even then, this would be more of a luxury than a necessity. Go Wings!!

  6. I'm surprised you had SJ and Anaheim here. SJ just accepted they're rebuilding and Anaheim hasnt decided whether to deal Gibson and therefore also on the fence. Not the preferred destination for Laine. Afford sure but completely counterproductive.

Montreal, Buffalo, Arizona. I could see them trading. They're clearly teams that don't want to rebuild much longer, very mid in the standings lowering their draft pick value, already seeing strong seasons out of their prospects.

Maybe a big fish would swing for him. The Penguins are kinda desperate. Maybe the Caps but they've got big problems. As you noted price is the most important thing because Laine has a deteriorating resume.

  7. I think, of the options that you laid out, the best option from Columbus’ point of view would probably be Nashville. While I would love to see Gus come back to Columbus—he’s absolutely the type of veteran player that the young talent in Columbus could learn from—I think that Nashville would want to keep him for exactly the same reasons.

I do think as well that any trade involving Laine will also involve moving one or more of CBJ’s excess defensemen.

Personally, I’d like any trade to include Evangelista and Lauzon—Evangelista as part of the talent package & Lauzon because the Jackets are often, well, bullied by the bottom-6es of their divisional rivals.

  8. He did well on the jets. He not playing well in CBJ becayse he is the 3rd option. PP sniper. But ya he should be 2nd or 3rd line. For some reason I think he is a perfect fit in NY, Van, Ari, Mtl, or Fla.

He a mid 6 winger. PP Sniper. And you can use him in front of the net- pop out shot… or because of his size prob win most battles along the boards for a quick give and go for him. He needs a Elias Lindhom esque player….Suzuki esque…him and Johnny not clicking… Johnny more electric and Laine just like a boat. Imagine him with panrian and Vinny….easy kakko 2nd and 4th for him.

  9. Example he would fit in Det or Ana. McTavish clearly holds down the fort and need more of a Ply and a guy in front of the net. Sure patty can pass but he is still a purr sniper with big body. Remember what happend to huberdeu. He left big body Barkov and had no chemistry with small fiesty Kadri. Chemistry and tendicies are key

  10. Laine was the one who wanted to play center. Columbus wasn't trying to make him do anything. They were nice enough to let him try it. He played mabye 7 games at center. 2 games last year and mabye 5 games this year before getting hurt both times. He was back at wing last games he played. I know its hard to follow every team close but when you criticize something please know what the fk you're talking about. 7 games at center and apparently Columbus ruined this whole guys career. Lmfao

  11. All NHL teams need to steer far and wide away from Patrick Laine. Guy cant stay healthy (only TWO complete 82 games seasons in his entire career) and really, hasn't produced much since 20-21. If he was on an expiring contract, then maybe he's a Plan C guy at the deadline, BUTTTT there are just too many red flags on Laine at this point. He needs a "Go prove it" season, this year and next before any team even considers signing him. His numbers are terrible really and as we know, numbers dont lie. Hard pass.

  12. I think of all the teams you mentioned Anaheim would be the best fit IMO but no way do I ever see them trading zegras for laine though, that would be shooting your self in the foot if I’ve ever seen it.If they manage to keep him and pay the man i think he’s a staple of Anaheim at this point and I don’t see him leaving unless they mess up contract negotiations then a trade (not for laine) is entirely possible. But i hope they keep that group together i enjoy watching Anaheim play when i get to see them. And on a side note another great video btw, i find myself going through a rough patch mentally this past year and am happy to say you’re the only hockey content on YouTube now that keeps me coming back every video and is the only place i get my hockey news now besides Reddit just wanted to let you know i love the videos and keep at er buddy 🤙

  13. I love the idea of Laine in Detroit but my concern would be that Detroit likes two way forwards. Its okay if Kane isn't one but otherwise I think the team needs to stock itself with those two way kind of guys. And I would hate to give up Soderblom or even Veleno (we need two way centers) for him.
