Jeff Paterson on Tocchet & Pettersson, Mikheyev’s role, Allvin adding a D-man, Canucks vs. Oilers

@rinkwidevancouver’s Jeff Paterson joins the show to discuss Rick Tocchet’s view on how his assessment of Elias Pettersson was perceived, and how his honest critique and Pettersson’s response speaks to the team environment. We also talk about Ilya Mikheyev’s place in the Canucks lineup, the team’s struggles to win past regulation, how adding a defenceman before the trade deadline would impact the depth chart, and whether the Canucks are currently better than the Oilers.

  1. Lmao Jeffā€™s mad Tocchet said it like it is. Heā€™s the one who brought that headline up during the scrum. Canā€™t blame your editor for that.

  2. I remember Vigneault……had his favorites. Guy would be in press box having played….ok. While a player making break away passes to the other team, plays 20 minutes.

If Kusmenko is going to be criticized, " coach the hell out of him". Then star players get the same. I like it, noone is untouchable.

  3. Jeff should go back to covering the thunder birds. Its definitely sad how negative this media is. #1 team and still complain. 9×10+ goal scorers on this team.

  4. With that great job of over-analysis of what Tocchet meant will absolutely be the reason Tocchet ain't gonna answer any more of these absolutely brainless questions. Move on guys.

  5. Jeff keeps saying "in a market like this one" as if he and his local media peers aren't 90% responsible for simultaneously hyping & dumbing down the dialogue to such faux-controversial levels.

Also love his condescending remark about listeners not realizing that headlines are inserted above a writer's work by a third person. Thanks for the breaking news, Jeff. We had no idea…

Finally, yes Zadorov needs to be more consistently physical, but despite him being one of the Canucks' "biggest bodies", the forward (Toropchenko)who scored the goal that benched him is bigger, younger and every bit as strong. You're going to lose some battles when pitted against an opponent like that.

  6. The fact you all keep talking about Tocchet and his comment on Petey speaks fathoms. You people just don't know when to stop. It's pathetic.

  7. Iā€™m a big Jpat fan, heā€™s put in a lot of work for this market, but I think Blastgate is an L for him.

  8. I have supported the Canucks since before the beginning of their NHL debut . Whether they won or lost I supported them . Both them and I are still here . We will Both be here When it happens .

  9. Sorry fella's, wont watch your show when you have twits like this dragging it down.

  10. For some reason I donā€™t get confidence when I see Boeser starting in OT. Itā€™s a foot speed thing. OT is tricky. Maybe Hoglander would thrive there.
