No doubt, he’s a unique player with loads of potential.

If the guy offered is newhook tier or above it shouldve been taken. More power to Kent if he thinks he can get more, but if that’s the likely return, with the logjam on D, Xhekaj has to be the one traded.

If Romanov and a 4th round pick fetched the 13th overall pick, I would only accept an offer around that worth.

We are doomed. No offensive talent, a surplus of LD, and we keep a guy who we got on a PTO and hasn’t shown yet he can be more than a 3rd pairing guy.

I dunno man. It’s hard to say if this guy turns into anything more than a 6/7 D. I probably would have taken it but I understand why they didn’t.

Absolutely should have turned it down. Xhekaj has a tremendous upside and has played not even a full season yet. If you trade him combine him with other assets and get a first line scorer. The Habs have enough second line forwards. Don’t waste the assets on another one.

Names popping in my head with teams that could be looking for a tough D. Brisson in Vegas, Lucius in Winnipeg, Foerster with Philly and Othmann with the Rangers.
The only one I’d pass on is Lucius straight but the other three are looking to be excellent middle six guys (2nd line likely). If players of that caliber, which is hinted by the article, were offered for him it’s likely a split decision up in management and I don’t even know which side I’d take.

We already have plenty of young forwards with second line potential. It would simply a trade of one area of abundance for another.

He’s got 70gp and he’s an undrafted sophomore playing at the highest level.
All you guys writing him off before he even peaks are out of your mind.
