I do think though that if this team does sell Lindholm, Tanev, Hanifin, (maybe even Bread and Markstrom) for all futures we could end up drafting as high as 5 because I think Ottawa will crawl out of the basement

For the Flames to improve in the short to mid term, they’ll need a franchise player, not someone who develops into a middle six player.

Still stupid that the league solely rewards random chance and being bad. If you’re going to do a lottery give teams an increased chance in the lottery for wins in the last 15 games. Or just make some end of year scorecard/tournament that gives you a reason to get excited for games down the stretch. Instead we have teams trying to tank in front of 7000 fans.

Somehow there will be a glimmer of hope and the team will push for a playoff spot, and we will get destroyed in the first round or miss the playoffs by a few points. The Flames’s circle of life will continue…..
