Scotty hasn’t looked right for a while now, even his shootout goal against the Stars looked out of sorts. Not sure what’s going on but hopefully he can right the ship sooner than later.
I like Laughton, but he took too long to figure out his role. He was drafted with the quote “he reminds me a lot of Mike Richards.”, then he spent a lot of time in the AHL because he had to learn how to be a bottom 6 guy. Now he’s this “more important in the room than on the ice” guy and we’ve apparently passed up on legit offers for him and it’s just felt like a good time to move on from him for at least 3 seasons now.
Laughton increasing the team’s standings points with his culture is not better, rather it’s worse
I have a harder slap shot than Laughton.
He should be on the trade block for whatever late round picks someone wants to part with. He’s not going to be a key piece in 2 years when Michkov comes over, so he’s just taking minutes away from guys who the team could benefit from seeing more of vs NHL talent.
