Coach Stevens, a Bronx native played scholastically at neighboring John F Kennedy High School for legendary New York City High School Coach Johnny Mathis. After High School Coach Stevens went onto play collegiately at Region XV and CUNYAC rival Kingsborough Community College. During his two-year stellar career for The Wave, Coach Stevens would go onto score over 1,000 points during his time there and went on to being inducted into the Kingsborough Community College Hall of Fame in 2015.
Ken .Stevens is the Founder and Director of Dyckman Youth Enterprises and the Founder and C.E.O of Dyckman Basketball Tournament. Since its founding in 1990 Coach Stevens has been committed to ensuring the health, growth, and sustainability of the organization establishing a community based program that assist over 500 families. Dyckman Youth Enterprises works to address the needs of the Dyckman community’s youth, by providing positive programs, for underprivileged kids, such as, academic readiness and youth employment. The Dyckman program is certified by New York City’s SYEP to employ over 80 community youth to work the Dyckman Summer Basketball Tournament.Associate Head Coach Ken Stevens is entering is sixth year on the Caiman bench. Known as one of the most connected basketball coaches in the tristate area, Coach Stevens brings over 30 years of basketball experience to the Hostos coaching staff
Over the last six years Coach Stevens has been in charge of the Caiman recruiting efforts as well as all practice and game plan development. Coach Stevens also brings a very well-known and experienced history as a X and O tactician to the Caimans being the man behind many of the Caimans offensive and defensive schemes. During his time at The Swamp Coach Stevens has helped recruit, develop and coach 3 All-Americans, multiple all CUNYAC and Region XV student athletes and has helped obtain athletic scholarships for many former Hostos Caiman student athletes.
