Tyler Myers fined $5,000 but NHL officiating incompetence continues

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Tyler Myers has incurred the maximum fine of $5,000, as permitted by the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for elbowing Columbus Blue Jackets forward Sean Kuraly during the Vancouver-Columbus game on Saturday, Jan. 27, held in Vancouver. The incident transpired at 11:51 of the third period, resulting in Myers receiving a major penalty and game misconduct for elbowing, with the fine contributing to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund. Notably, a major penalty was initially assessed to Ian Cole for interference on Justin Danforth. Following a video review by the referees, the decision was altered, and Myers was instead penalized with a major penalty and game misconduct for elbowing. #nhl #hockey #nhldiscussion #nhlnews #highlights

  1. The NHL refs are overwhelmed. The NHL added the second referee many years ago. However, the situation has not gotten better.
